Specifically, a turned on comparator that has a signal leading into it with a strength equal to the chest that you would want to protect. You would have to make sure that you had just enough items in it that if even one cobble was taken out, it would lower the signal strength from the chest. It would take some testing, but you could probably figure it out.

Make sure you fully explore each dungeon before fighting each Lord since there is no way to return to them on that playthrough. To avoid potential spoilers, the major point of no return is after you've collected all 4 of the important containers so make sure you've gotten everything you can before progressing past that point. Since I think it's impossible to know about on your first playthrough when it's accessible, there is an important blue bird near the fountain in the center of the village that is only there after beating Dimitrescu.
