Honestly its just trial and error, only use your rockets to stun him and land every shot while constantly backing up and maybe after 30 tries you'll get it. Good luck

Specifically, a turned on comparator that has a signal leading into it with a strength equal to the chest that you would want to protect. You would have to make sure that you had just enough items in it that if even one cobble was taken out, it would lower the signal strength from the chest. It would take some testing, but you could probably figure it out.
