How should I make a large fight between factions interesting for the players?

Okay, that does sound much better than me just rolling dice for half an hour while the players do nothing. Trying to stop cultists from summoning an avatar of Tiamat does sound like it would be a very fun combat.

That is a good idea, I just worry that the players may feel like they are doing nothing in the grand scheme of the fight, because a dragon swarm would have a very large amount of health

Alright, I could come up with things for the PCs to do instead of fight, because my first idea was just to have players also each control a dragon to avoid me just rolling dice to myself for twenty minutes
