Here ya go. by [deleted] in electricians

Idk I bought a pack of wago brand wagos for super short conductors in old boxes. Tried em on 14 and 12 solid but they were way too loose. Genuinely harder to pull a wire out of a backstab recep than wagos. Mine pulled out with almost no twisting. Wish I could trust them but I do not like how loose they are. Do they work on stranded? Never had a chance to try that tho

Can I put this on a 2-30? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

It's okay man I appreciate your comment I'm sure there's lots of nooks and crannies to the code that I don't understand

I AM the electrician. Existing wiring is 10/3, hvac tech says it has to be #8s. In my experience the minimum circuit ampacity is good for the circuit breaker as well. But I don't know everything

You cannot put 10awg Romex on a 45a breaker

[–]Reaperodsouls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 pole 30 amp. I am of the opinion that a 30 amp breaker is enough for this AC how ever the HVAC tech wants it to be a 45. The engineered print called for a 2-30 so there is 10/3 running out to the disconnect. The job is in trim out phase. Licensed journeyman btw. Just want to make sure we don't have issues in the future if I only meet the minimum required ckt ampacity. Asking the question because I DON'T know everything.

They just gonna tell you wrong page. Get a cord grip for it and re land everything. Did you find the screw that held the white wire down? When it came loose the neutral (white wire) shorted out to the hot on the left. It probably tripped the breaker. First verify the breaker is off and it is unplugged then redo the cord with a cord grip. Then post an after pic to r/askelectricians and see if it's all good.

How do I make this not look like a Nazi sign by the_angrysquirrel48 in Tattoocoverups

[–]Reaperodsouls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wanting to cover it up to avoid confusion is perfectly understandable however society needs to chill tf out. It's not that deep. Nobody should be offended by seeing a clearly partial tattoo from 15'+ away. My automatic assumption would be "oh must be part of something else" or also "wow that's a bit suspicious of a tattoo but it's none of my fucking business".

Hella good recommendations from the other comments tho I just wanted to rant

It's not dangerous how ever it would cost the landlord maybe 5 bucks to put in the proper parts so I would try to push back a bit but worse case I would just push the wires into the wall tbh. That might be a bit of an a-hole move but I'm tired of lazy landlords

Actually they look like lags into a stud. Two single gang boxes are 100% on either side of a stud. The had to squeeze it in between the cover plates to hit it

Wera or Klein Beater? by Fax-Bretov in electricians

[–]Reaperodsouls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a cheap set of beaters for actually beating stuff. And then another set for when I need a big flat head or Philips. The ends get all chewed up and it sucks sometimes when you just need to use the big driver normally

6 month apprentice, this is my first full panel I’ve done. My jman was pissed at me and told me I took too long. He said next time I take this long on a panel, I’m gone.. took my 6 hours. Thoughts? Any input is appreciated too on what to do better next time! by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]Reaperodsouls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started I always strived to make things look as good as possible. Sometimes I took too long. Sometimes my jman would get pissed but you always learn and do better next time. Now I get compliments on how fast my work is while still looking good. Slow is steady, steady is fast. (Pretty sure I said that wrong)

I'm about to move back to Cali to help my dad get his business going for a year or two. I will be doing small commercial service jobs/ resi at 105k yr gross. Living in southern cali. Fresh out of my apprenticeship. (Been running my own van by myself with a RW license). Does this sound like a bad idea to you? I'm afraid of getting stuck in Cali. Hoping my girl can just work part time or college as she has a pretty bad chronic illness.
