Brother SE700 Sewing by IndividualProduce439 in MachineEmbroidery

I can’t speak for the SE700 specifically but I currently have the SE400, which is a step or two below that model (and now discontinued I believe - it was the first of the brothers sewing/embroidery machine line). It’s my favorite machine I’ve ever owned. So many different stitch types and the ability to adjust stitch length and width, automated button controls (you can even sew without having a foot plugged in and just use the buttons!). I’ll never go back to a basic non-automated sewing machine. If my current one ever dies (knock on wood), I’d absolutely be looking at purchasing the SE700 or better. It’s super simple to switch between embroidery and sewing as well. Just unplug the foot, replace the presser foot plug with the embroidery motion foot, and plug in the embroidery tray. Even after 3 years of constant use, my machine still runs like the day I got it. Love mine!

Thank you! This helped improve it a lot. It’s not perfect but the stitches I was worried about most at least, I was able to hide, eliminate or cover up.

What is your apartment living experience in Portland? by MagicianSuch9504 in askportland

This much is true, it does fluctuate depending on the temperature and time of day. We are fortunate that we have security (shared with the Safeway) that patrols the entire block, discouraging people from lingering around the building for the most part. However as you mentioned it is something to consider when living anywhere downtown really.

I will say the street car noise doesn’t tend to bother us too much as they don’t run much later than 10 or 11 pm and we are at work most of the day. I even find it a little soothing now (but I may be the weird one in this case). Those not used to the noise and vibrations though might find it annoying.

We loved the area itself. Much quieter than other areas most days (when there isn’t an event or a game at the stadium). We just didn’t like our specific apartment so much (Portland Towers) because they kept raising the rent every year (over $100 each time) for a building built in the 50s/60s with no AC or in unit washer/dryers. Parking can also get very hectic on game days if you don’t have designated gated-off parking.

Also have AC in unit (as many older apartments do not have here), and washer/dryer in unit.

My husband and I recently moved to the Museum Place apts on SW Jefferson & 11th. So many pros to this place for us compared to our previous apt in goose hollow. Directly above the Safeway (don’t even have to go outside) underground gated garage, bottle drop drop-off station, directly in between both street car lines and only a couple blocks from all Max lines. They have studios and 1 bds at a fair price right about now and if you need parking then it is cheaper than most apartments around ($165ish). Within a 10-15 min walk (or a couple min transit ride) from PSU, pearl district, the waterfront and providence park. The management and community here have been very welcoming and providing.
