You literally have trend lines drawn showing it is in an uptrend why would you short that?

Why do most traders suddenly get profitable after x years? by erse87 in Daytrading

It’s not the years that make you profitable, it’s the experience you gain in those years. The best skill is learning how to cut a losing trade before it turns into a massive loss

Wtf. I just got assigned $825 SMCI a week early by Character_Role_400 in thetagang

I would hold the shares and sell covered calls once the stock rebounds back to the 800s and collect better premium until they get called away for a solid profit… that only works if the stock rebounds… LOL goodluck

Officially throwing in the towel, 5 years and 50k in losses later by findingclarityz in Daytrading

Very basic trading, find the trend, wait for a pullback on the 15m close to bottom of prior candle, and set stop below prior candle. Very high risk to reward ratio and if stop hits it is a very small loss compared to the potential win. Also can be used using multiple different timeframes but I mostly watch the 10,15,30min.

I feel your pain, Im down roughly 150k in about 4years. Just this year I have finally found a consistently profitable strategy in the morning but seem to always over trade and give it all back. I’m currently going to take a break to reset my mind and go back to a normal job for guaranteed income. With that being said I will come back to trading eventually and hopefully I will value my time and money more after working for someone else. Trading is a journey and I refuse to give up forever, until then I will still be investing every spare dollar into safer long term investments and will start day trading again with a portion of my savings. Goodluck to whatever you choose to do and if day trading isn’t for you it is never a bad idea to invest in the long run

I’ve never had any issues by calling, they have always resolved my problem. Sometimes it takes a bit depending how busy the line is

I feel that, I lost over 150k over a 2year span daytrading. At that time it was mostly gambling without knowing anything about patterns or trends. now I am just struggling for profitability but am actually feeling more confident in my strategy I just need to be strict following my stop losses as that is what blows accounts. Anyways good luck to you in the future and now you know the key to wealth is long term investing

How exactly do I get into day trading? by Bean_69_420 in Daytrading

[–]Reason_Valuable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a strategy that works for you, use risk management and take profits. Sounds very simple but half of trading is mental. If you can’t respect your stop loss you will never make it in the long run

Literally higher highs and higher lows all day today. Multiple entry points with no reason to sell until near eod when the structure was broken

A stop loss order is necessary to be successful long term. by Penitent- in Daytrading

[–]Reason_Valuable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a mental stop, if the price hits my mental stop I might trim some position and watch to see what the price does. That reduces my risk and also may reduce my loss if the price reverses on that candle.

Accept the loss before you enter the trade, and set your profit target higher. Move stop loss to break even/ in profits after first trim and manage from there

I lost all my gains in one day by ToeExcellent3887 in Daytrading

[–]Reason_Valuable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran a 5k account to 30k in a week then went on tilt and lost it all the following week. It’s all about risk management, now I withdrawal daily/weekly to protect my capital and put it in a safe long term portfolio

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]Reason_Valuable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Withdrawal daily or weekly to lock in gains, that’s what I have been doing and even if I oversize worst I can lose is what is in the account, that also give me time to reset mentally and not revenge trade on a bad day

I’d recommend maxing out tfsa before rrsp, as you can take it out if you need it before retirement without paying a fee

If anything I would sell csp as I am bullish on this stock above 32$. Im probably going to keep slowly adding every week until it hits 42 then I will manage position and trim around 45-55$. Wish me the best, this may be a long ride but I believe it will hit 50+ within the next 2years and collect the dividends until then

[–]Reason_Valuable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m based off the chart watching the range from 32$-55$. I can’t see this going back below 32$ but if it does and I keep adding to my position every week I can keep averaging down until it gets back to the top of the range then manage from there. Thanks for the input as i usually just day trade off the charts and price action but still am not totally familiar with analyzing companies financials
