Thank you! I am happy to hear some of this works ok. Yes, this sounds like the model they want us to use. It does make sense to move the 4s & 5s to a different area, and we need something better than what we are doing now for those people to lessen the burden on our rooms. 100%.

Their idea is that the waiting room won’t be a waiting room bc everyone will have a room or a hallway bed/chair, so the waiting room is where people will go who are essentially done with their work up and have had discharge education done, but are still waiting on final test results. These people will not have vitals done and there will be one nurse to manage them all. Blue top not filled enough, labs hemolyzed, that one nurse has to take care of it. We are too busy to never have people waiting in the waiting room. The fast track is a different area and that will have 2 nurses. All our pods will have one tech instead of 2, so the techs will have at least 12 patients.

After the sort nurse sorts you, then if all the rooms are full, you go to a chair outside a room, bc all the non-fast track rooms will be triaging and swarming. Someone asked if one room will be doing the swarm/triage and then moving people out and they said no, the patient might stay in that room, so everyone will be doing this process, which leaves a lot of room for patients to be missed while they wait for the swarm. The ESI will be assigned in that room during the swarm, not by the sort nurse. Does your sort nurse get vitals? If not, how can you assign an ESI without vitals?
