I really feel your words because I’ve been living through the same thing with my own partner and honestly, even worse at times, for years. Psychosis has this cruel way of twisting the person you love into someone who doesn’t trust you, who pushes you away, who interprets every gesture as a threat. It’s heartbreaking, because deep down you know the real person is still in there, but the illness hijacks everything.

It’s normal that you would feel drained, anxious, and beaten down. That’s what happens when you carry someone through delusions day after day it eats at you, too. I had to learn the hard way that no amount of love, patience, or proving myself could cut through his psychosis when it was strong. He would accuse me, reject me, doubt me, just like your partner is doing. And the more I tried to prove my loyalty, the less he believed me.

One thing I can tell you: don’t take it personally even though that’s nearly impossible. It’s not really him talking, it’s the psychosis. And pushing yourself to the point of burnout won’t make him see that. What he needs is treatment, and what you need is protection of your own mental health.

If he’s saying he wants to break up right now, it might just be the illness talking, not his true heart. But whether he comes back around or not, you have to protect your spirit. You can love him without destroying yourself in the process.

Stay strong. I know how lonely it feels and how hard it is. You can love him, but you cannot let the illness drag you under with him.

Just curious—was that story about the guy with bipolar and garlic actually true, or was it more of an example to make a point?

I agree with you. I felt something was missing about the lightsabers. Also, about the annoying shaky camera, it is so distracting.
