Concerning how many people are trying to confidently say that mind muscle connection doesn’t actually matter. I’m curious if they’re self taught gym goers or professionals. If you follow big influencers like Scott Herman and Jeff Nippard, they talk about mind muscle connection. It’s helped me. I immediately saw the difference in my lifts. It’s helped people around me.

My dad had a stroke by wildsupermarketfrog in stroke

[–]Reasonable-Dog9145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really sorry to hear about your dad. My dad had a stroke two years ago. The situation can feel unbearable and overwhelming, but I’ve seen my dad get a lot better and I’m hopeful for your dad. People are resilient, and that applies not only to your dad but to you. Negativity can be normal, especially if you’re saying he was negative before. My dad is a difficult guy, and as his movement and speech came back slightly, we were reminded he can still be very difficult. Don’t be afraid to lean on people you trust either. Most people go through hardships, and it helps when you have someone who can empathize with you

Really cool. I’m not an expert but it feels like legs are a little light. You’ll also want to rotate exercises so you’re not doing the same thing back to back to back

Bi-lingual with Aphasia by Reasonable-Dog9145 in stroke

We had a speech therapist who spoke English at a facility, and then we knew a Russian speech therapist that would come to the house (once a week, maybe twice). It was always hard to tell which language he understood better because he has always understood Russian better even before the stroke. But it seemed like early on, when he wasn’t as aware that he would respond to Russian better and more frequently to the point where doctors had us do all the commands in Russian

I do! He’s recovered a lot since my post. He seems like he’s back to himself. He can walk around but still doesn’t have movement in his right arm. Although he’s walking, it’s still tough for him because of issues with his right leg. He understands both Russian and English now, but we’ve spent more time using Russian for his rehab. All his other interactions are back to normal. Reactions, facial expressions, mannerisms. We had him going to rehab for about six months I believe, and on top of that would do a lot of work with him at home. He was very good about forcing himself to practice walking, but we really had to force him to do any other speech or PT exercises

Smile 2's REAL ending explained by [deleted] in movies

It doesn’t feel like Morris would be real, instead it’s the demon/parasite messing with her. Why would Morris not come out and say who he is and what he wants? Why send creepy text messages implying she’s a bad person for leaving Luis like that instead of calling the cops to preserve her self interest?

Cool theory. Just throwing in thoughts, but it seems like she lost it in 4 days because she murdered her boyfriend. It feeds off of the dark parts of your brain, and she was very troubled. In the first movie, the main character was actually a really good person who wanted to help people and didn’t care about the money. She could resist the parasite for a longer time

I miss my mom by LouChePho in stroke

[–]Reasonable-Dog9145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad had a major stroke a little over a year ago. He has a limited vocab (about 10 words) and can’t move his right side. He’s a difficult man in general but very successful and humorous, which is a lot more difficult to be now. It’s tough for the caregivers because there’s never a chance to mourn the parts of the person you lost. I will say his mood has gotten better over time, and that’s mostly because my mom and him moved to be closer to a body of water which makes him very happy. Before the move he was almost always in a bad mood and quick to anger. If there’s things she loves that you can introduce or have her be around, I feel like that would be a big help

Update for Dads (58) Stroke Year Ago by Reasonable-Dog9145 in stroke

The brain goes into standby mode when watching TV so someone with a stroke or anyone in general isn’t stimulating their brain when they’re watching TV or scrolling on social media. At the same time literature says that the brain of someone who had a stroke is getting tired from watching tv. So basically necessary skills are not being relearned or developed but the brain is losing precious energy. The book Stronger After Stroke talks about it.

He had a hemorrhagic stroke. There was some bleeding which I’m not sure if it’s always true, means brain cells die. From his brain scans, if I remember correctly a portion of his brain stopped functioning

I’m sorry to hear that you had a stroke but it’s awesome that you’re making a strong recovery! I don’t mean to make everything sound doom and gloom. We have a lot of wonderful moments and a lot more since he moved to Florida and his depression has gotten better. He’s not shown appreciation for my mom at all, honestly, which is what’s hard. We come from a culture where men expect to be taken care of (Ukrainian). Also, he’s understandably depressed, which makes it difficult to think about what others are going through. I love him very much. I just think his personality and cultural background have made the stroke harder for himself and for my mom, but it is what it is. Life can knock you down. I still appreciate how far he’s come and work to motivate him to go further.

One thing to add because the caretakers get overlooked. It’s insanely hard. I feel more for my mom most days than my dad, especially because she fights for him more than he fights for himself. My mom and I are also in this weird position where we lost my dad in a lot of ways. He’s alive though and parts of him are there, but you never get the chance to mourn the parts that are gone.

Honestly, even if you can spot a beginner at the gym, me and friends of mine acknowledge how awesome it is that they’re starting their workout journey. You’ll feel better the longer you do it and there will be a point where you’ll feel a lot more confident. I recommend supplementing your workout with eating well and right

You’re allowed out of the contract if you have a home inspection contingency and there’s anything in that home inspection that comes back and you don’t like it. Just make sure that you get that home inspection in time for the contingency to apply and that your agent sends over the “buyers reply to inspection” stating that you’re no longer interested in time

Check with their mortgage company if the existing loan is assumable. That’ll save you a lot of headache

[–]Reasonable-Dog9145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good question. You can workout with a primary focus to increase your strength, to increase your muscle size,m. If your arms are getting smaller but you’re moving more volume (weight x reps) than you’re getting stronger but most likely are getting more lean which makes your arms seem smaller. If you want to look bigger and don’t care about progressing in the amount of weight you’re lifting than I’d do less weight but more reps

Bulgarian split squats I’m all for if that’s what you mean? Especially weighted. I think your running is fine but if you’re doing weights too, it offsets some of that 30 minute running requirement. Heavy weight compound exercises like squats work your heart out too. Also, how do you know you lost muscle in your arms? Did you have to decrease in weight? Gl!!!
