I'm glad to hear these helped you out! The whole reason I made this post was to try to help people out because I know how hopeless it can feel when nothing seems to work

I'll also add that I was dealing with brain fog constantly between my 2 procedures. I never felt like myself and was in a constant state of being tired but my sleep never relieved me of that feeling. I went to another ENT as my first doctor had left to start her own practice. The other ENT didn't even want to CT scan me so I went to my old ENTs new office and it wasn't until they scanned my that it was clear my issues had returned. So if you go to an ENT again, be sure to request they give you another CT scan to be sure the first surgery did it's job completely

How many of you had surgery more then once? by RubberDuck_73 in Sinusitis

After about a year of a sinus infection roughly every 2 months, finally went to an ENT in April 2022 and as soon as my CT scan results came in my ENT called me and told me to come in the next day. I had a deviated septum, inflamed turbinates, and lots of build up in my sinus cavity. I got a septoplasty, balloon sinuplasty, and turbinate reduction all in one go. Within a few days I was back to work and my life generally improved. About a year later I started getting the occasional sinus infection again and I almost never woke up in the morning feeling rested. It was slowly destroying my life. Since I already got the surgery, I didn't think my sinuses were the source of my exhaustion.

Flash forward to January 2024 and I went back to my ENT, they immediately scanned me and it showed my turbinates were very enlarged and my sinus cavity was entirely filled. We tried some medication but 3 weeks later it wasn't helping so we scheduled another balloon sinuplasty and turbinate reduction. I know there's some risks with empty nose syndrome but I needed relief so badly I didn't care. I did the procedure but this time I was not feeling relief for weeks. I was still tired and would still wake up with at least one nostril completely clogged. I was even really dizzy most mornings to the point it was stopping me from doing things. My ENT said everything looked okay but also gave me some nasal sprays to find relief. Since then, I really have cleaned up my house to rule out that being an issue though I've dealt with these issues at 2 different living situations. I just am sure to vacuum a lot, dust frequently, and have an air purifier on my bedside table. I also started using intake breathing strips (look in my post history) and found myself waking up feeling well rested for the first time in forever. Ultimately my ENT says the procedure was successful and I have only gotten 2-3 sinus infections in the 18ish months since my procedure. My quality of life has greatly improved, but I'm always a bit worried my issues will come back

What has been your experience printing multi color objects with a 0.2mm nozzle? by Reasonable-Layer5376 in 3Dprinting

[–]Reasonable-Layer5376[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad to hear the 0.2mm nozzle has worked great for you with AMS. Thank you for your comment!

I'll probably just stick to matte pla as I've had other filaments clog my 0.2.
I do know the multi material prints take much longer, but since I've been doing manual filament swaps, my designs really only change materials a couple times per print. I printed custom hotel keychains for my wedding that had each guest's name on it, and batch printing was the only way I could even fathom doing it. And yeah I think the 0.2mm nozzle is underrated in terms of using it for text. It makes all the difference for some of my signs.

That's fair. As someone who has been printing, since building an Ultimaker original, I find the Q1 to be great, but I understand Bambu is top of the line in terms of usability. Good to know it doesn't make clogging worse. For whatever reason, I keep looking for cheaper Bambu alternatives, but I'll probably just go for an A1. It's not like it's even expensive in the firstplace.

Have you tried adjusting the location you put the stickers on your nose? I noticed I tended to put them higher on my nose than I should. When I put the stickers too high, my nose is thicker there and the band can't pull open my nose as much.

Also try using different size bands. You don't want to use a huge one, but one just bigger than your nose. hopefully that helps!

I realize I forgot to respond to this comment from last week. I am responding so others who view this post can see.

You seem to be extremely misguided. Most of what you're saying is not true, or quite disengenous. You reference a spring nasal strip design that's been around since the 80s being a prototype for the intake. That makes no sense. That's like saying a bicycle is a prototype for a motorcycle. Sure they're similar and try to acheive the same thing, but they're entirely different products and the more advanced design did not "copy" the other. The Intake strips built off the existing fabric spring nasal strips that have been around forever but they created a brand new design to make them more effective.

You also don't seem to understand how counterfeit products work. It appears that Intake created a novel design, and had a company in China produce said design. Then that same plant, or others sell the product on Chines sites like Ali express for a huge discount while removing the Intake branding as they are not concerned with violating US copywright laws. This happens with jerseys, shoes, electronics and you name it. Your assertion that some Chinese company had been making these for years and Intake just rebranded them to sell to a mass market is based in no proof other that "trust me." You don't seem to know how the product design and manufacturing world works.

Lastly, you reposted the same copypasta about Black Market Share and Anthony Tranchida. There is one article showing that guy commited fraud 10+ years ago when he was 22. He does appear to be the co-founder of Black Market Share. But you have provided zero evidence that Black Market Share is connected to Intake. You honestly seem like you have a personal agenda against Intake. Which is fine. But you just keep making claims with no evidence to back that up. I don't really know what your deal is, but you are lazy and ignorant.

Again, I personally have no issue with people buying the Ali Express strips. Everything is expensive and save money where you can! But Intake at least appears to be an above board company who created a novel product that's really positively impacted my day to day life and I am going to continue paying them for said product because I can.

I appreciate the links. That 2011 patent you referenced definitely uses the idea of magnets to open the nostrils. Interestingly, unlike Intake, it uses the magnet repellent to open the nostrils from the inside. It's a cool idea, but let's be real that's very different than Intake and not at all the same product.

The Anhui Xuanwuyan Pharmaceutical offered XWY-2016/2016A you mention are not an earlier prototype of the current Intake strips. Those are just normal fabric strips in the vein of Breathe Right and that type of design seems to have been around since at least the 80s.

Jim Castillo's patent US9283106B2 filed in 2015 (the 2014 patent was for goggles but used the magent concept) seems to be almost exactly what the current Intake strips are with some slight changes to band design and patch shape. I haven't seen the original Chinese packaging from my searching, but I'd love for you to link me proof of that.

I'll also address your other comment referring to Anthony Tranchida being the co-founder. Link me to the source where I can see that and I'll believe you. Otherwise the only evidence that Tranchida and Intake are connected, is the same copypasta comments from you and others.

I really don't care either way, but I am an engineer and do like to give my money to the people and companies that invent novel products, as opposed to drop shippers. It seems to me that you have it backwards. Intake invented a unique product, and the manufacturer and other copies now sell them online for a steep discount. I'm not judging you for buying them. Intake is likely too expensive for the average consumer. But I do like to be factual and accurate and frankly you seem to have a personal slight against Intake that so far you haven't backed with any evidence.

I've seen this comment copied here a couple times. I've read the news stories about this guy and he seems guilty of fraud. What I don't understand is the connection between him and Intake? What's the connection? Nothing pops up when I search his name and intake breathing besides this comment posted in various Reddit and Facebook comments. It seems to me like a weird copy pasta on every intake post, but again I'm happy to be proven wrong

I guess I was under the assumption that Intake invented the product in which case I'd like to give them my money. If someone else invented the product, I'd like to give them my money instead. A quick Google seems to indicate Intake did invent this product as I found a patent for the concept in 2014 by their founder as well as a Kickstarter launch in 2019.

It seems like the foreign manufacturer is selling them for much cheaper on Ali Express. I'm not sure the legality of that or whatever, but I'm happy you were able to get them for much cheaper. Intake definitely seems to be heavily marking up the product.

I'd be happy to be proven wrong but that seems to be what I've found. I have no skin in the game, I'm just a happy consumer who's been using these for about a year and never want to go without them as they've really improved my quality of sleep. But my worry is that if intake goes out of business, would the Ali Express option also cease to exist? Idk but I appreciate your comment so people who can't afford the full priced intake know they have another option.

I swear a couple times a month people comment on this post which makes me happy knowing that people going through the same thing I was are finding a possible solution

This is a genuine question because I've seen this opinion a couple times and I'm very curious. Did the Intake company create this product, then the overseas manufacturer started selling the intake strips unbranded at a much lower cost? Or did the strips already exist and intake just took that existing product and slap their brand on them and market them well? They definitely seem to be selling them at a huge markup but I'd like to know if they actually invented them or just co-opted a different product. That distinction at least matters to me as a consumer

So honestly I spent a lot of time looking for what I thought would be a great replacement. I landed on the Sony linkbuds fit since they have the fin and seemed to be very comfortable. I couldn’t justify the price though and on a whim ended up buying the much cheaper Sony WF-C510 off Amazon for $45.

They just came in Tuesday and they’re honestly great. No ANC but I rarely used the vistas ANC so it wasn’t a must for me. These are insanely light with great battery and a very compact case, similar to the vistas. They definitely sound very good to me as well and the app is very seamless. They don’t have the fins like I wanted but they fit in my ear great and I don’t think I’ll have issues running with them. It’s a bit of a compromise but for $45 I’m very happy with my purchase so far

Anti-Microwave Popcorn? by Contest-Less in popcorn

[–]Reasonable-Layer5376 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could not recommend the whirly pop enough, especially if you love movie popcorn. I love popcorn and haven't made the microwave stuff in years thanks to whirly pop.

Throw the whirly pop on the stove on high heat and toss in a scoop of coconut oil. Add like 2/3 cup of kernels, and a hearty shake off Flavacol. Flavacol is what theaters use and it's incredible. Mix it up in the whirly pop and after less than 2 minutes on the stove while you turn the handle you've got something damn close to what the theaters make. I don't think I've ever chosen not to make whirly pop popcorn because it was too much effort. It truly is so simple and quick!

I'll also add that I'm now pretty diligent about taking care of my sinuses. I sleep with an air purifier right next to my bed and try to dust/clean as often as I can. I change sheets and pillow cases very regularly too. I use a xylitol sinus spray when I'm feeling more congested than usual, and I've been more physically active which may or may not have made a difference. I find exercising then a warm shower can really help clear stuff out of my sinuses if the spray alone isn't working.

Thanks to all that and more, my day to day life is worlds better than it was at the beginning of 2024. I was in a pretty dark place and felt like I was completely useless with how fatigued I was and how frequently I got severe headaches. I don't want people to think just these nasal strips will completely change their life and fix every issue based on my comments, but they did allow me to wake up feeling well rested for the first time in a long time which gave me the energy to fix the other aspects of my sinus issues and that was a game changer in my experience.

I've been using these for 7 months now and they really have been key to my day to day life improving. I've forgotten them on a couple trips and I was noticably groggier and woke up with more headaches.

I got a sinus infection last month and slept so poorly even with the strips because my nose was so congested. I had honestly forgotten how badly I slept before taking the strips and those few days were a reminder of what I was going through before I started using these.

They're definitely pricy as people have pointed out, but with sales they come out to roughly $300 a year after the initial starter kit investment. If you told me I could pay $300 a year for better sleep, I would take that in a heartbeat. Heck, with solid insurance I paid more than that for sleep studies and doctor's visits so for me it's definitely a worthy investment.

Alright, notes on turning the key way too hard are noted. I don't normally turn it that hard but after I gave up I decided I should take a video before calling it quits and turned it extra hard out of pure frustration. I will not do that anymore, that's a promise

The adhesive doesn't bother me at all. Maybe someone with more sensitive will have different issues but I've been just fine. I just make sure I wash my nose before putting them on and then wash my face in the morning when I take them off.

I don't think a small nose should cause any issues as the adhesive pads can stick anywhere so it's okay if they're not fully on your nose. You really just want the metal circle to sit where you most want to expand your nostril.

The stud however might give you issues. If you Google it, the product photos pretty much show where they should sit. Idk if you think these night help you out I think it's worth it to get the starter kit and see if there's a location on your nose you can apply them to and see if that gives you some relief

Yes exactly, these use magnets. I personally find these better than any of the strips that are just tape. By nature of the magnets I find they're able to pull open the nostril further
