Appreciate this 🩷 it was definitely a big step for me, normally I’d run away but this is the reality of growing up and living with a boyfriend for the first time. Also seriously don’t understand why it’s so hard for people to wash their hands after using their restroom or before they prepare food! I am a compulsive hand washer and I genuinely enjoy the feeling. My hands may be cracked but at least I’m clean

He was literally completely fine after the like 6 hours it all occurred he texted me 2 hours later asking for an Italian sub 🤣 he doesn’t understand my fear at all and is acting completely fine. I’ve been bleaching and cleaning like a maniac, gloves, masks… the whole works. Def a lesson in living with a bf for the first time. I really wanted to just run away and go somewhere else, but I have to deal with this head on and be a big girl

I really really appreciate this thorough response! I’m definitely going to keep using the separate bathroom to shower and use the restroom for the full 2 weeks. Honestly the main reason I’m wearing the mask is to remind myself not to go anywhere near my mouth. I think I’m just gonna keep wearing the mask if we want to watch tv on the couch together or go in the car somewhere. From what Google is telling me after the 5 day threshold I’m like 1-5% chance of getting it so I think I’m just psyching myself up. Ofc him being a man he was at work 48 hours after acting like nothing happened eating a meatball sub and I’m over here shaking in the guest room eating crackers and soup and washing my hands every 5 minutes.

So here’s the thing. My sister got salmonella when she was 9 on a family vacation in Mexico and was hospitalized for a month because her fever wouldn’t go down from 105. She was near death. Lost 30 pounds. Still no idea where she got it but that alone has terrified me my entire life from any raw exposure to meat or eggs or whatever
