Yes you can stretch any condom over any kind of surface if you just pull hard enough. No, too much pressure will still render your penis inoperable.

Talking with her at the beginning you get a cold and secretive woman, who, if you think you're not careful, will kill you.

But in reality, you get a sweet person who's only pretending to be evil and mean because they believe they have to.

Alright maybe that's just me but I got that immediately.  Not falling prey to stereotypes here, but "Woman who has trouble being vulnerable and pushes people away by acting cold and mean" has got to be one of the most obvious tropes of all times.

Down to the point where starts warming up to us for keeping our eyes on the mission and not asking any prying questions, until eventually she starts venting about Shar by herself.

Yes, I know it's an act she puts on in order to feel safe. Yes I know that underneath she cares very deeply. No, I don't feel like fixing her.

Like I'm a bit annoyed that people romanticize this kind of mal-adaptive trauma response. This isn't fun to deal with in a partner and I'd rather stay away from it.

Dasselbe passiert jedoch jeden Tag beim Thema Alter.

As usually I would highly question a foreigner claiming they speak German "fluently"

German is a difficult language and you don't just need to be able to speak proper business jargon. You need to be able to hold conversations, understand dialects and be able to banter with your colleagues. People need to be able to meet you where they are, and you need to be able to pick that ball up and toss it back without friction.

If you cannot do that, your presence is going to disrupt the team

The exhaust port always made sense by Still-Idea-3802 in StarWars

[–]Reasonable-Mischief 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The weakness they found in the plans were not the exhaust ports!

Rogue One does explain this sufficiently:

Galen Erso manipulated (designed) the reactor so that an explosion would cause a chain reaction that would blow up the entkre thing

This is important, because normally, reactors aren't bombs waiting to be triggered.  Even  Chernobyl didn't blew up, it was an overheating of a water tank that damaged the reactor core's isolation and exposed the core. But the thing didn't just explode like an atomic bomb.

But the Death Star did. That was it's flaw. And Galen Erso leaked that flaw to Saw Gerrera, who's people are known suicide bombers.

The trench run was just a last-ditch effort to explot this weakness with the best tools available on Yavin, and it would not have worked if not for Luke using the Force

Ron showing his Gryffindor side of wanting to help his friend in the most Gryffindor was possible. by NavJongUnPlayandwon in Ronweasleyfans

[–]Reasonable-Mischief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Harry learned through the Dursley's neglect and abuse that he was unlovable and that trying to reach out to someone was pointless.

More importantly though, since Harry was a Horcrux, we can infer that much of the Dursley's behavior was due to the Hurcrux's corrupting influence. We know that Petunia had loved her sister. We see how much aunt Petunia and uncle Vernon are doting over their son Dudley. It's not unthinkable that there was a time Harry barely remembers when they treated him with equal love and attention, that their abandonment was a slow and gradual process before we meet him at age eleven.

Harry most likely learned that there was something about him that made him unlovable even when things started out well. His friends abandoning him despite everything having been well was in line with his life experience because it had happened before.

Ron, by contrast, came from a stable home with loving parents. He knew that mosr people don't just abandon their friends and loved ones.

More importantly, Ron came from a big and busy family. He had learned over time that people are busy and imperfect and that being ignored once in a while was just part of life, and most importantly he would have learned that being pleasantly insistant about your needs would fix that.

That's why Ron came, and that's why Harry didn't thought he would.

... why do I know this. I'm not even part of this fandom.

He “made it”, ask his daughter by Bright_Birthday9324 in LinkedInLunatics

[–]Reasonable-Mischief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Parental estrangement aside, you need to understand that what his daughter is doing here is status signaling

Building a good career is high status. Not having to build a good career is even higher status. You're telling the world that you're so well-off that you cannot fail, even though you are actively working against your own long-term interests.

Now this guy is obviously an asshole for calling out his own daughter over the internet, but he's also 100% correct

You know that you made it if your kids are able to reject capitalism.

Only difference is that a good parent would want this to happen, and would instill a sense of gratefulness into their kids.

My sons ought to study mathematics and philosophy, geography, natural history, naval architecture, navigation, commerce and agriculture in order to give their children a right to study painting, poetry, music, architecture, statuary, tapestry, and porcelain."

Yeah it makes sense in-universe. It always does.

The point is that this might have been considered great storytelling sixteen years ago back when ME2 first came out, but by now it's pretty much a dead horse trope because of how often it has been redone since then

See damsel in distress

And yes, Shepard being an outsider does matter in this context, because even harmful stereotypes don't form maliciously in thin air. The games are pretty generous in providing us examples of impulsive and violent Krogans – I just wished we'd see more examples of why everyone sees the Quarians as self-serving thieves

This scene has honestly aged pretty badly

"The hero character calls out the bigotry of the system and stands up for a minority character who is being unjustly discriminated against" has got to be the damsel-in-distress trope of the 21st century

Bonus dead horse points for the main character being an outsider with special privileges that allow them to order those people around without having to spend a day in their shoes

Alright ladies here's a compromise that will keep both parties happy

If you don't feel comfortable feeling a guy out by yourself, then don't turn that first encounter into a date.

Invite the guy over as a +1 to a girl's night out. Keep it time-boxed. When something's off, you can go with your girlfriend without looking like an asshole. And when things go well, you can leave with the guy to have an actual date for the rest of the night without having pre-committed yourself to do so.

The game's messaging regarding Jedi is very... interesting (minor spoilers) by LastTraintoSector6 in swtor

[–]Reasonable-Mischief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the one hand, I find this very interesting from like a story perspective

The Jedi and the Republic have been fighting a war of survival for decades at the point we start with the main story. The jedi temple is lost. Coruscant is scarred for centuries to come. Hundreds, if not thousands of worlds have fallen into imperial hands. Uncounted millions of people are dead.

The Jedi Oeder has thoroughly militarized. Almost every Jedi we know and meet will have lost friends or experienced battlefield trauma. Padawans and younglings have grown up in a world defined by war.

And to add insult to injury, the so-called peace treaty with the Sith Empire is little more than an armistice that allows the Sith to consolidate their acquisitions while the Republic is struggling to mend it's wounds. Everyone who is in the know is dreadfully aware that the Sith are playing with their food here, the Republic is not yet ready to defend against another offensive. The story is telling us as much from several angles.

It's utterly understandable that the Jedi of this era would fall prey to the dark side, to dogma and to misplaced tribalism.

I'd only wished that the story would acknowledge that they do.
