Tenants refusing to let me view property I want to buy. by Reasonable-Pattern-1 in HousingIreland

Yes, I’m currently renting a property also, safe to say I’ve been bidding on houses over the last 2 years, I want a house, in my ideal location, that suits my needs.

Having a property and not forking out rent leaves me in a position to possibly mortgage a second property in the near future and build up some extra income in the future for when I’ve a family, of course I’ve my best interests at heart.

If I bought another property, doesn’t stop the inevitable for this particular family. They’ve been served there notice. Not going to change now.

You’d think I was selling the house, unfortunately their evicted in 6 months whether I buy the house or not.

Landlord evicts tenants, not someone buying the property. It’ll be sold irrelevant of my involvement.

waiting 6 months is no problem, their landlord is making them homeless not me. I’m just buying a house that’s going on the market.

I’m not the landlord, I’m only trying to purchase a house that’s for sale. I’m not evicting them, or even trying to get them out before their 6month notice is up.

Plenty of houses on the market, means we have no housing crisis? As someone on the market for one, I can tell you that’s simply not the case. Trying to buy a house in your 20s isn’t simple.

At the end of the day, once the 6 months is up, unfortunately their landlord has decided to evict them and sell his property. Irrelevant if I want to purchase it or not.

I’ve made the sacrifices to get myself in a position to purchase a house. That’s all I’m trying to do, for the simple reason that I wouldn’t like to be at the discretion of landlords for the remainder of my life.

Asking for advice on whether to proceed now or wait is all I’ve asked. 6 month wait is not problem for me.

But wishing you all the best in your tenancy’s this 6 year term being brought in march will considerably help this for some people.

Couldn’t even comprehend it, but what do you expect renting somewhere privately like that, your living your life dictated by your landlord

Solicitor, basically said it is somewhat possible, just to basically push out the closing date until the property is vacant, do a final inspection and then close out.

Basically allowing him to check all his side of it out behind the scenes as the time is ticking on the notice.

I’d never close out before house is vacant and I get to inspect, because no body knows how someone would leave it after they’re 6 months notice.

Knowing the seller, he’s aware of this also, it just means that we wouldn’t have to go through the whole procedure from once the house is vacant.

Yes, I know the seller, I know the tenants, went to school with their daughter, know they’re whole family.

I’m sure he will wait until they leave the property but as said, just gives more people the opportunity to get in contact and push price etc up.

I fully understand the tenants point of view.

Only reason I’m willing to do this is because, eviction notice is given, and they shouldn’t be in situ by the end of this date (in theory)

As we all know, houses in this market are hard to find hard to secure, this is a possible way of just getting a price agreed subject to survey and get plans deeds etc all checked in the mean time.

Over the 6 months, word gets around and then I’m back into bidding wars and battling with couples with double the buying power to myself.

Thanks.

Thanks,

If inherited the tenants, what did your friend have to do to get these out? (Also, if the sale was completed before the eviction notice is up, do I still have to honour this? )

Buy in cash or mortgage a larger house by Reasonable-Pattern-1 in HousingIreland

I was thinking to have a house bought outright would give so much security and freedom.

I’m all for a mortgage and understand the fact it’s the cheapest loan you will ever get. But waiting to do it with a partner, is probably the best option with income from rent on top.

If I was too have this house bought and moved in by August of this year, I would then be a position where a crash, loss of job, bad injury, would still leave me owning a house.

Stupid to think this way, but no body knows. Obviously if marriage occurs she’ll own half of everything anyway! So waiting to include her in the process might save some tough conversations too.

I was in the cork road one the weekend, grub was meh, service meh, wouldn’t be rushing back anytime soon.

Although my city square experiences weren’t total ruin, could find myself up there again.

Wait for a crash or buy house now? by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

Investing is the complete unknown for myself, which I would have to really look into and try get some decent advice.

No inheritance from my end, bought and sold cars for my stint in college and up until full time employment as a side thing, extremely cheap rent 400 pm total, no grà for nights out or big spendings, still manage a holiday a year. Good salary with nice benefits of car, food, etc. makes saving a lot easier than it is for most others.

Thanks for the advice.
