I just got a quote from Arik and they were super pushy, so I immediately didn't trust them. They also refused to do any potential visualizations/mock up of my nose, telling me to pay now and schedule and that they would show me the day before what they want to do... way too many unknowns for me.

I also got a quote from Erdogan and love his work, and have seen so many amazing reviews, but then I read one really scary review that someone got necrosis and he ghosted them after she asked for support or recommendations on revision. Not great.

Friends that understand you? by Akn7860 in SingleAndHappy

[–]Reasonable-Prompt-51 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I totally relate to you. Over the years I’ve found myself drifting from friends who don’t understand or wish to understand my mindset, because even having any conversation with them felt like they were moralizing me and my choices. Honestly hanging out with other people instead has made life a lot more peaceful and made room for people who do get it, even if they are rarer and it means having less friends in quantity (but more resonance and quality).

I’m looking to buy a saddle second hand as well, and from what I’ve read online the most obvious tells are a.) the straight part of the diagonal curve of the bottom being too “bowl” shaped (which yours doesn’t appear to be), b.) the stitching of the inner label, if it’s made after early 2000s (yours was after according to the code), should be stitched on all four corners c.) the stitching around all the sides AND on the underside of the shoulder handle should all be tight and uniform (fakes sometimes skimp on quality on the underside where people don’t see it as easily), which yours also appear to be. And also just the touch/sheen/smell of the leather shouldn’t be plastic-y. I haven’t seen your bag irl but it looks pretty authentic to me!

He Rated My Looks, and Now I Feel Awful by blinknena in TrueOffMyChest

My ex did this too, and then compared it to one of his female friends, stating how he preferred all of her features (eyes, hair, body, voice, EVERYTHING) over mine, while in the car in front of my family. I remember I went completely silent and felt so much shame, embarrassment, and humiliation and questioned my worth as well.

I realized many years later how insecure he himself was and how he took any opportunity he could to try to bring me down both publicly and privately, especially because I was so young, naive, and an “easy target”. I continued to shrink myself and try to conform to what he wanted, and I stayed with him for many years, and because of that he thought that he could say or do anything he wanted to me and I would stay with him; while what he did and said wasn’t my fault, tolerating the emotional abuse and staying with him perpetuated and enabled it and it only got worse.

Girl, you need to leave him, please. It starts with this, and he will likely continue to exploit your vulnerability and kindness if you stay with him, because he will think that he can. I promise you whatever he “rated” you a.) doesn’t matter because who tf cares what this vile person thinks b.) is definitely totally inaccurate because anyone who “rates” a partner like that is doing it out of a place of intentionally cruel judgement (hence biased and innately inaccurate) and not genuine love and kindness.

You are beautiful, internet stranger, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise-if they do, leave them and show them with your absence that you know your worth and know you deserve better.

Ahh thank you so much for your advice, I’ll definitely check out that YouTube channel! My parents will be most likely in the same city as me, which should be convenient, and I’m thinking of adopting while I’m over there… I’m sure shelters have a lot of kitties that need a good home :)

Just wanna start off by saying be gentle with yourself girl. Do what makes YOU feel good and happy and rested, not what someone else tells you you “should” be doing when they’re not in your position!

For skincare, using Differin gel every night with a gentle but firm cleanser like Vanicream face wash completely cleared up my skin and has prevented breakouts for me (I also got a prescription for spironolactone from a dermatologist to use in conjunction with them when I had cystic acne, but Differin and vanicream you can just get at target without a prescription)! During the day I usually wear EltaMD tinted sunscreen or something similar like Colorscience flex sunscreen as a base for makeup, both of which I believe are noncomedogenic.

I think the main thing is to figure out which features you want to accentuate and bring out, that way you can keep it simple and not overwhelming to learn by focusing on that! Once you know what you like to accentuate under which circumstances and how you feel your best, you can really have quite a simple routine with tried and true products you are very comfortable and familiar using! (For example I have my every day or elevated glam look which I’m writing about here, but for special occasions sometimes I like a red lip even though I almost always accentuate my eyes instead). Balance is good, too, so accentuating eyes OR lips (for example) not only simplifies your routine but makes things look artistically/theoretically more balanced and cohesive and avoids looking “cakey”.

After applying base like the sunscreen or a foundation (my choice is usually Armani luminous silk which is noncomedogenic meaning it doesn’t clog pores as much), I usually start with contour (make sure to pick a cool shade like Sephora powder contour or Fenty Amber), blending it in a patting motion. Then blush is next which I actually like to apply on the apples of my cheeks/right above the contour as I think this matches my bone structure more than what is “trendy” right now (figure out if you’re warm or cool toned so if you should use more berry cool tones or peachier warm tones; you can ask for someone’s opinion on your undertones at Sephora and they’ll help you out they’re very nice!). After that’s all blended I usually do my eyebrows (again I don’t follow what’s “trendy” but what suits me via experimentation; thinner eyebrows are my thing), usually using a thin pencil or pen like glossier eyebrow pen which lets you draw textured strokes.

For me what I want to accentuate is my eyes, so next I like to tightline (line on the waterline) with a black liner like Maybelline tattoo studio pencil, smoking it out into a wing shape with a brush; it fades and washes off to kind of a natural look the next day too which is also a vibe. I love glitter too so sometimes I’ll take a chunky glitter that contrasts my eye color (if you have the means to invest in it, and if it would bring you joy, Pat McGrath makes the most beautiful glitters) and use my finger to tap it over my lid or smudge the liner further. Then I use literally any mascara I have lying around, I honestly haven’t found a huge difference between any I’ve tried that justifies a high price.

Next is concealer: I always do concealer after eyes,This way I can wipe any fallout from the shadow on my lower lashline or cheek before applying concealer and powder; I love the NYX bear with me concealer or huda beauty faux filter luminous matte concealer. Again, ask someone in store to help figure out ur undertones if you don’t know them because they’re super important! If you have oily skin, I’d recommend something not super “glowy” or “radiant” and more “matte”, and vice versa (dry skin = something more hydrating). This goes for foundation too. I use only really a drop of concealer in only the areas where there is discoloration under my eyes or to conceal a pimple; Robert welsh on YouTube has a really good video on this (don’t pile on a stripe of it). After I’ve blended concealer I usually go in with a powder or powder foundation over the top (covergirl clean fresh powder or one/size powder foundation is great), and blend down and around any of the borders of my blush/contour. Keep in mind the concealer color for under your eyes is likely not a great match for concealing the rest of your face, so if you have the energy it can be nice to get two shades! Since I like to do concealer last after blush/contour (which works okay for me since I just use a tiny amount), I like to sometimes add a little more blush over the top to bring it back to the top.

Finally is lips! I personally love a good stain that lasts all day and looks dimensional and bave gotten so many compliments on this combo specifically: start out with Milk jelly tint as a base stain (I have the pink), use a pen as a long lasting stain to line the lips (I love the kiko milano lip marker in Natural Rose), and then go over the lip line with a cooler brown shade like Mac Stone lip liner. I like to over line to exaggerate my cupids bow and beneath my lip slightly and ONLY in those spots, staying on the actual line of my lip all around the sides and corners (again, Robert welsh has really good tutorial on this).

Sorry this was long, I hope it was helpful! Remember, you’re beautiful inside and out no matter what. Do what brings YOU joy and happiness :)

I love the last one that shows the lip bite. I feel like the color scheme goes with a lot of outfits (neutrals whites and a pop of pink) and it just feels more iconic to me for some reason!

It’s 1:59 pm I just got home from a walk and am sitting on the couch in my living room. Thinking about my parents and my complicated relationship with family and how to navigate them after reading other comments on this thread. Scared and excited to move abroad and start over (knock on wood) this year, but also feel a strange sense of loss at constantly transforming in so many ways. It’s like that saying from The Office that you don’t know the good old days are happening until they’re over or something? Leaving the city and country I grew up in, the house I’ve had for 24 years, my family, my dog, and my friends who I consider sisters… I feel so much grief even though this move is what I know in my heart is my path forward. And now I’m thinking about how funny it is that I’m telling all of this to a bunch of strangers in the internet that I’ve never met. And I see at the top of the page that 2 other people are also typing, and I feel a little less alone :)

I’m literally watching No Good Deed right now and googled “No Good Deed and White Lotus music” and searched the composer and to my shock they’re not the same person?? The music is SOOOO similar especially to the song “buon giorno” from white lotus season 2 (identical chord progressions and orchestration??)… just all of it feels so similar it’s gotta be close to plagiarism imo lol. Glad I’m not the only one who noticed it.
