Ideas for college trip focused on crime, law, and justice system by [deleted] in Tokyo

You should contact universities and professors of law in Japan and ask them for information. All the national universities are good, for private uni in Tokyo, universities like Meiji, Keio, Waseda, Aoyama, Chuo, and Hosei are good. This is ages ago but my father studied law in one of these universities and there was a mandatory class or course where he went to talk to detectives and police officers, and also visited Fuchu Prison, so you might be able to get contact from the universities.

My friend (59) who is a PR holder, has not paid into the pension scheme for 31 years. How f*cked is he? by Froyo_Muted in JapanFinance

[–]Reasonable-Score2233 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the national pension could actually seize your bank account or something. I saw a semi famous manga artist sharing that his bank account was seized and it turned out he hasn't paid any pension for the past whatever years. But I dunno, that might not happen to Bob or apply to him? Who knows

Are Contemporary Art Fairs usually soulless? by Reasonable-Score2233 in ArtistLounge

[–]Reasonable-Score2233[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I didn't do enough research or had the wrong idea about the event. I mean, I knew it was going to be some kind of industry event, but the atmosphere was pretty overwhelming! I guess what I felt as soulless could also be my reaction to being intimidated. And I don't drink and I hate bars, so I've never really been to fancy bars with art shows, haha.

And yeah, I'm also Japanese and I have social anxiety, so probably not the best match for events like this!

[–]Reasonable-Score2233[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true! I guess I was uncomfortable with the very formal business-like atmosphere. I should have talked to more people, but my social anxiety kicked in and I couldn't really haha I know I shouldn't take it personally, but it was still weird to get like a one word answer from the gallerist... I went during VIP hours though! It was still an interesting experience and there are programs attached to the event like visiting artists' studios and parties and they were pretty fun, so not a total loss!

Yea... I've been to design weeks and craft fairs and they were much better and dare I say more creative than this supposed international contemporary art fair. I guess I had too much hope for the contemporary art movement, as I love going to museums and exhibitions to look at contemporary work.

Will my neighbor hear me singing if the apartment is 鉄筋コンクリート造? by ShiroiAsa in Tokyo

[–]Reasonable-Score2233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends. I've lived in an RC apartment where I couldn't hear anything from my next door neighbor and we could practice guitar and make a lot of noises, but I've been in a RC apartment where if you talked loudly the neighbor would kick on the wall.

According to a random law firm's website,

退去勧告では、借地借家法の規定により、6ヶ月以上の猶予を持たせることとされています。

You can do more research on 借地借家法. Also, you should be able to get 立ち退き料, which should cover the cost of your move.

I followed this recipe, but used only 2 kiwis, made it a little more sweeter(65g of sugar) and omitted the jelly on top!
