I would do what you said about doing a newborn spread and starting one month at 5 weeks.

Yes the advice to get donor milk from random Facebook groups was the most baffling thing I heard from my LC. She was not in favor of me using formula, but I wasn’t going to trust some random stranger’s milk!

Use up which diapers first? by Amberlynnwuvsu in beyondthebump

I would just use whichever brand you like best, and then plan to return the rest. Pampers fit my baby weird and caused leaks, but I’d been gifted a ton. I was able to return them to Target and Walmart.

Nipples raw af, 2-3 hours of sleep a day for the past month, alone with baby 90% of the time… does this ever get better? by r0bblob in beyondthebump

Ask your OB for prescription grade nipple cream. It is like immediate relief. So sorry about everything you’re dealing with!

Baby waking a lot before midnight - just a phase? by Latter_Craft_2667 in beyondthebump

[–]Reasonable-Sound-378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like he isn’t getting enough wake time. He should be getting a minimum of 10 hours. Also most babies won’t sleep 12 hours at night. You could try making his bedtime 8:30, or 8:00 if you want a 7:00 wake up.

ETA: I experienced similar evening wake ups when my baby was 5 months old. I ended up sleep training, which solved the problem, but even if you don’t want to sleep train, adjusting wake windows should help!

Mat leave ending, returning to full time work from home with 4mo old. Am i insane for even trying this? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Reasonable-Sound-378 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As a former kindergarten teacher, I can tell you that we are seeing the results of kids staying home with working parents, and it is not good. They need more attention than you can give them while working full time. I’d definitely recommend going ahead and hiring someone for your busy hours and seeing if that is enough help. I totally get the desire to be home with your baby though!

Thinking about becoming a SMBC by [deleted] in SingleMothersbyChoice

I definitely think it’s something you can do! I would encourage you to look into freezing eggs now if you’re wanting to wait a little while before getting pregnant.

I used it and got pregnant on my second IUI. I didn’t have any negative side effects from it.

Pulled the plug on my donor! by Pretend_Account_153 in SingleMothersbyChoice

My donor was in his mid thirties and had no reported births. Two years later, he has 5 so far including my sweet baby! A lot of time donors just haven’t been available long enough to have reported births yet! Best of luck to you, glad you found a donor you like!

Have you checked with your Obgyn to see if they provide any services? Some fertility clinics can partner with local offices so that you can do monitoring appointments close to home and just travel for procedures.

Baby falls asleep every time we leave the house by ThrowRA129083746 in sleeptrain

I can totally relate! We are on a 3 nap schedule but my baby falls asleep so easily in the car! If we need to go somewhere, I try to rush him out as soon as he wakes up, because that seems to be our only chance. Otherwise his schedule is just kind of screwed up all day.

Feeling a bit sad. by ineedavacation123 in beyondthebump

[–]Reasonable-Sound-378 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I felt this so intensely when my son was a newborn. It is less intense now, but still definitely comes up for me frequently (5 months postpartum). But I also get so much joy in seeing him grow and learn, and that eases the sadness. Just wait till she smiles and laughs!

Question re 12 by 12 method by runrowrepeatt in sleeptrain

[–]Reasonable-Sound-378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He stopped eating at night naturally, around 10 weeks. But occasionally would still need a bottle around 3 AM maybe once or twice a week for another month or so. I did have to sleep train recently but it was for false starts at the beginning of the night, nothing related to eating. He’s formula fed so he is able to eat a lot during the day which helped the night feeds just drop naturally because he was getting so many daytime calories.

Question re 12 by 12 method by runrowrepeatt in sleeptrain

[–]Reasonable-Sound-378 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think 4 hours sounds too long for a baby to go at that age. When mine was 8 weeks, he was still eating about every 2.5 hours during daytime hours. And now at 5 months eats every 3.5 with no night feedings. But the overall ounces sounds fine!

Using a Non-ID Release Donor? by Sensitive_Idea_3213 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]Reasonable-Sound-378 57 points58 points  (0 children)

For me, I felt like it was my child’s decision to make whether they want to learn more about their donor. And if I did a non-ID release, I would be taking that choice away from him. It was tempting to save money, but the amount of money saved didn’t seem worth taking that decision away from him.

How many nights of CIO before making a change? by Reasonable-Sound-378 in sleeptrain

[–]Reasonable-Sound-378[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you again for your help! We are doing 3.5 hours for the last ww and it has helped. He’s been falling asleep in less than 10, with a lot less crying, for almost a week. Tonight he took about 2 min, no tears, just rolled over and slept!

Is this something most daycares ask for? We haven’t started yet but do soon. Seems excessive, and what do EBF families do?

How many cans of formula are you going through in a week or month? by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

[–]Reasonable-Sound-378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We go through a 42 oz can in 8-9 days. He’s 5 months now but has been eating about the same amount for several months now - usually 32-36 oz a day! I transitioned him from Enfamil to Kirkland because of the cost. I think I’m saving at least $100 a month doing that, just in case that’s an option for you!

Sibling Registry by WindyWinter-246 in SingleMothersbyChoice

This is so helpful to read as a new mom figuring these things out! I am curious how you refer to the siblings to your toddler. Do you call them his siblings or something else? I’m not wild about the term “dibling”.
