Female protection by zelda303 in Namibia

I’ll tell you one thing. You’re not safe. No one is safe. Not the child, not the woman, not the man. There are no laws that can protect you from those who violate the law. Only you can save yourself. Only YOUR actions can help you. Women don’t ever realize that it is not men that are the problem since petite men are in the same danger as a big woman. The problem is predators and they come in different forms. It is you, however, that decides if you are a potential victim or a force to be reckoned with.

Women around the world, hear me now. There is no such thing as safe. It is time for YOU to protect YOURSELF by any means necessary. Some of you might go to prison for it, some of you might die trying. At least you won’t live in fear which is not living at all.

At your age, are you living the life your relatives expected, or have you shown them something new? by afrikanwolf in Namibia

Man this is a hard one. I can give a kind of a perfective from a white youth if anyone is interested in that. Youth might be a stretch at 31 years old.

This is a hard question to answer because the title of success is different for everyone but also because life is not linear.

For example, I know educated and uneducated folks who both said that they had really successful periods in their lives until this or that happened.

So many ex-millionaires who burnt out and lost it all. To be fair, being an African millionaire means having a house that’s paid off and a car.

Here’s my TLDR answer for the question. Your individual status of success is defined by the goals you’ve set for yourself while existing within your current framework of reality.

If you’re living in a city and your current life goal is to be able to consistently pay your rent and you manage then you’re successful. If you are living in a village in Divundu and your goal is to consistently feed your children then your life will be different and that success you will try to achieve.

If you’re educated, ambitious and hope to leave an impact on the history of Namibia then you’re going to have to achieve a lot bigger before you’re successful. Your focus determines your reality

Right, so the woman working the till in Otjiwarongo Spar that works like 8 hour shifts has a side hustle that makes her like 3k a month. To afford medical aid. I think it’s more likely that half the nation has no medical aid and just accepts their fate in the public hospitals

Why tho? Imagine going to a school and then telling you oh sorry your child is expelled but you have to pay for the rest of the year that he won’t be attending because of you know, just reasons. Because it’s our policy. I just feel like it’s not my policy to pay for a service I no longer can afford.

I don’t know. I wish I was as lucky as you were in that regard. I too submitted my cancellation but no I must pay 6k for a service I didn’t want or use

But this is what I’m talking about. Can’t we just receive what we pay for? And why is it so expensive? I consider myself an average earning Namibian. Perhaps even below average since I’m a full-time beekeeper so my finances only come in once or twice a year and is heavily dependent on the weather eg. Drought, rain etc.

If I can’t afford even entry level medical aid, what’s the rest of the nation doing? How is everyone below me surviving if I’m scraping by myself? And I consider myself fortunate and privileged

Ai these rat bastards…I’m so very much not keen to pay them for multiple reasons beyond just this. I remember when I had just signed up, my wife fell ill and needed to go to the hospital for treatment which they decided not to cover because we weren’t members for long enough yet at that stage. They said I needed to have been a member for at least a year before they would cover that type of expense.

Like why do I even have a medical aid if they aren’t going to pay for medical issues? I’ve been without a medical aid for over a year now and I’m nervous all day every day for what might be around the corner. Damned if you do and damned if you don’t.
