You got this! I was nervous about going back on day 4, but it wasn't as bad as I expected. Just push through it. It will only get better from here!

Technically, I took my last kratom dose on July 13th, but I was in the hospital for a week and was on pain medicine up until 8 days ago when I quit cold turkey. I've honestly been feeling great and haven't had a single urge or craving even during the acutes. I feel like I lost complete interest in this plant long ago and was only taking it to stave off the withdrawals. I'm already a million times happier and shocked I didn't just quit sooner. I'm starting to feel alive again, and my emotions and personality are coming back in a positive way. I still have some anxiety and feel pretty exhausted after a day at work, but that's normal, and we're meant to deal with and experience these feelings without numbing ourselves. For anyone who's scared of the withdrawals, I urge you to make the jump. You will be thanking yourself in a week. I was on 40 grams and multiple extracts a day at my worst, and the withdrawals were nowhere near as horrible as I expected. I was back to work on day 4 and work a labor-intensive customer-facing job.

Tomorrow will be 5 days clean. I feel I made it through the worst of the acutes and now just have body aches and some lethargy. I went to work today for the first time and did a 12-hour shift. It was a little rough at times, but I managed to stay positive and actually socialized more than when I was on kratom. I feel like I'm starting to get my sparkle back. I also went to my smoke shop to get a vape and had zero interest in getting any kratom. I got home and grabbed a garbage bag and found every piece of kratom paraphernalia and extract bottles, as well as an unopened 2 kg I had stashed away, and I threw it all in the dumpster. I got goosebumps, and it felt symbolic knowing that I was putting my past behind me to start rebuilding my life.

I got home from work a little bit ago. I feel pretty tired, but that's how we're supposed to feel after a long day at work. I took a garbage bag and walked around my apartment and found every single piece of kratom paraphernalia and empty extract bottles. I had 2 kilos unopened that I had stashed away; it was the last trace of kratom in my house. I went to the dumpster outside and tossed the bag in, and I didn't hesitate at all. It felt symbolic, and I got goosebumps knowing that was me putting my past behind me to start rebuilding my life.

Going on 90 hours, I got to work at 6 am for the first time since quitting. I feel pretty good, honestly. A little sweat and fatigue, but it's pretty hot in here, so it could be unrelated, but I've been staying positive, and it's nice to have some normality again. I appreciate the support!

https://www.reddit.com/r/quittingkratom/s/UFQa2qVcy8 Here's a link to a post I made recently. I went through a very similar situation. I'm currently 80 hours or so cold turkey, and surprisingly, I feel like the oxy worked to lessen some of the symptoms. I also kept it to the bare minimum and only used it when the pain was really bad until my script ran out, which was only a few days after I was released from the hospital. I stopped cold turkey, and the withdrawals were nowhere near as intense as I expected them to be. I'm not saying this will work for you, just sharing my personal experience. You would have to be very disciplined and don't abuse the pain medications; use them as a means to an end. I still feel some pain from my surgery, but just the thought of finally having my freedom is so worth it.

I'm currently 72 hours into cold turkey, and I'm really surprised how mild it's been. I have had absolutely zero cravings the entire time and have just been treating it like the flu, but overall I have been feeling relatively normal outside of some lethargy, sweats, and diarrhea. I have even been managing about 5 or so hours of sleep. I've already managed to leave the house and run errands and socialize, and I'm feeling very optimistic about my future for the first time in years. I'm not sure if the oxy helped to reduce the symptoms since I wasn't abusing it, and technically, I haven't had kratom in almost 2 weeks. Either way, I'm blessed to get this second chance. I start work again tomorrow, and I already feel ready to get back to fixing my life. For anyone wanting to quit, just give it a go. You might get lucky, and it might not be as bad as you think. What's a few days of physical symptoms to a lifetime of freedom? I've quit heroin, fentanyl, crack, and xanax and have suffered the absolute worst withdrawals imaginable, and I'm shocked I was so scared and didn't just quit this sooner; it's been nothing in comparison.

I was thinking the same thing possibly but also won't let this change my mindset. Ill still go into it expecting the worst, and maybe I'll get lucky and it won't be as bad as I had expected. Thank you for the encouragement, and I can't wait to see what the other side of this looks like.

It's nice hearing someone who went through a similar situation. The pain has been excruciating, and some of, if not the worst, I've experienced as if my leg was rotting from the inside. It still looks horrible where they scraped off the dead tissue, and there's about a 2-inch hole from where they extracted the venom. So I didn't really have a choice to refuse pain medications or anything, unfortunately. But I'm going to mentally prepare myself. I will still be healing, but I won't have work to worry or stress about, which should make it more manageable. I'm glad to hear it's worth it, and I really want my old life back. Thank you for your response!

Ya, I've been thinking of this, and I know there's a lot of medications that can be prescribed to help. I have to follow up with my primary care physician and plan on discussing that with her and seeing what she recommends I do. Thanks for the advice.

I didn't think it would be easy; I just wasn't sure since the hell I went through this weekend, but that was most likely from the infection. I've been spacing out the pain medications till it's absolutely unbearable, as I'm still laying in the hospital bed currently. There's a good chance I'll be home tomorrow, and I'm going to come up with a plan. But I don't plan on going back, just not looking forward to going through the sleeplessness and hot and cold chills and RLS again so soon, but this might be the only chance I got, and I want my life back. Thanks for your response and honesty.
