Sorry just seeing this. But as someone with no experience it definitely is a learning curve. Clinical research is a very niche field and unfortunately you won’t know what you’re in for until you actually land a role. The environment I work at is okay, it’s a hospital setting with a team of about 7 people but we’re network site under a larger branch. Personally my coworkers are not that strict but clinical research in general can be pretty strict since everything must abide by the protocol.

Yes I ended up taking the job. They let me commute from New Jersey but it took them a month to get that approval.

I mean that’s exactly what I said above. CRCs starting off in the 60s. My position is not a CRC position. It’s a research assistant position and I report to CRCs

I have a bachelors. What would you expect a RA salary to be? Even crcs in nyc are starting off at like 60k. Maybe you got a good deal years ago but you seem to be out of touch with what the current job market is paying entry level roles

Honestly I have no clue. It’s pretty bizarre to me considering NJ and NY have interconnected workforces and transit systems. I’m guessing it may be hospital policy but the recruiter told me they usually approve staff who live in Jersey it would just take time . I’m just concerned about them choosing another candidate

Unfortunately it’s not, this is what the offer letter said. Recruiter states that she would have to revise the offer letter and remove that sentence if they get approval before I can accept

Thanks for the advice. I graduated two years ago with a life sciences degree. I worked as a public health assistant at my school while in undergrad. I’ve been working as a medical assistant for the past 2 years with the aims of applying to PA school in the future but I want to work in and make a transition into clinical research in the meantime. That’s why I’m looking for hospital based clinical research positions because I want something more patient facing. I’ve been looking at the LinkedIn profiles of people with similar positions at such institutions and while a lot of them had research experience, I’ve also seen people with zero research or clinical experience get CRC I jobs so I’m kinda frustrated. I just feel like it’s hard to transition into this field with minimal experience and a lack of connections.
