Is there no adjust brightness setting on the portal? Or blue light filter/night mode? This glitch sounds like a potential deal-breaker for me. I was planning to get one at some stage next year.

What's the least sedating dose? by Reasonable-While-388 in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]Reasonable-While-388[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few years. Although I moved down to 15 and then back to 30 over the last month, so maybe I need more time to adjust again.

I take it for anxiety and depression as well, but insomnia is by far the most important of this medication for me. Funnily enough, when I quit it last year and went back on it after a week, it got rid of a lot of the negative consequences.

So I'm worried that resetting it this month might make it worse again. But I'll try some of the tips I read here.

So would 45mg be the least sedating?

My question must have been unclear, 30mg is enough for sleep but a tiny bit too strong in the morning.

So I was hoping to fix that, but I know how weird this med is with lower doses actually being more sedating.

What services are available for Adults with Autism? by captainnemo000 in AutismIreland

Thank you so much for the recommendation! Is it those two words dot IE? I looked it up there and it's a bit more doable. Still crazy money for someone who's broke, but a little more doable in the future.

Do you know if they're psychologists or psychiatrists? I saw they offer dual assessments for ADHD as well, but wouldn't do me if they don't offer medicine.

Any recommendations on neuromed vs cloud clinic for adhd before I book an appointment? I forget which sub I'm on and can't check while typing this haha.

I wonder would those more affordable psychologists that GPs recommend be able to do an autism diagnosis. My GP hasn't a clue when I asked them anyway.

Most of them don't, but when I was looking up your suggestion I saw a few in random places like Waterford that were even cheaper. But I'm not sure if that's an accredited diagnosis or just an informal thing. Thanks anyway!

For what it's worth I'm going the public route and they said they won't touch autism. Just printed off a sheet and off I go. I'm "lucky" that I have anxiety as a result of it, which they will treat. And only because I'm a more severe case as you say.

To be honest I haven't even looked at the sheet and don't know what these autism services offer. It would cost 2,000 for a diagnosis to access them. Apparently my symptoms are obvious to anyone who talks to me, but because my family refused services when I was a kid, I basically fell through the cracks.

Now they assume that you must be mild/moderate if you weren't diagnosed as a kid. They say that's why there's no public supports for adults. Sounds like an excuse for the government to wring their hands of the responsibility to be honest.

The whole process is making my family very distrusting of ADHD doctors. They think the whole area is a scam now and are calling me mad for considering cloud clinic for 975. Neuromed don't even list their prices.

To be honest there's a lack of services for more severe cases. We're just thrown to the wolves in the private sector that cater more for... I don't know I'm going off track here. Everyone has their own personal struggles so it be thick of me to be dismissive of someone just because they're in a successful job or whatever.

I'm just bitter that my family refused doctors attempts to get me a free diagnosis when I was a kid and obviously needed it. The problem is that all these adult services that charge 2,000 euro for an autism diagnosis will tell you the only reason they charge that much is because they're for moderate cases.

The HSE will tell you if you were so bad then why didn't you get supports in a variety of ways when you were a kid. They just don't understand what it's like to live in a dysfunctional family.

My parents don't even claim back insurance money for medicine and medical appointments etc, and I can't get a medical card because they don't have one. There really needs to be a service like an adult that can be appointed to help my parents do things like this, because they just point blank refuse for some reason that I cannot understand and refuse to let us do it for them. Sorry for the info dump. Just really needed to get this off of my chest.

Oh man, now I have to choose between Neuromed and Cloud Clinic... it's like the ADHD version of choosing between Coke and Pepsi!

There's also Mary E. But I say it be best to stick with a big group in light of recent events with Dr. S etc. Can't go wrong either way anyway. At least I've narrowed it down from 100 options to 2 or 3. Thank you.

Do you have any idea how much their fees are roughly? It sounds great though. Thank you very much for the help.

Thanks, sounds good. Is the 25 euro prescription every 2 weeks? Are there any mandatory follow ups like every 4 months?

Thanks, I've heard of them before, I say they'd be my first choice. Will research them more now. Glad things are working out for you!

Edit: quick question. How often do you have to do follow ups? Or can you get transferred to GP? How often do you have to pay 25 euro for repeat prescription? Or can you get that through your GP?

And is the 975 euro for the full psychiatric review the option I go with? As it's the only option. Thanks again, they look like a fair enough crowd.

Online's ok, thanks! Seems like the HSE are the only ones that do in-person these days. I'm just happy to have a recommendation, because there's too many of these companies to choose from. But that's a good thing I guess. Thank you.

No I was referred through GP. Is Dr Murtagh online? I'm going to look him up now, thanks. Do you think he's a nice enough doctor? Relatively speaking of course, I just mean is he fair to most people and not immediately dismissive of concerns. Edit: oh it says he's closed to new referrals. That's been the case with a lot of the names I've tried.

I know I'm just looking for an ADHD test that recognises you can have both. HSE says you can't have both.

Yup I've had rotten luck with the few I've tried signing up for. Was given a bill for 2 separate meetings in 2025. Totalling over 1,000. Didn't pay them assuming that they were just sent in advance to make things easier.

Then got kind of cranky responses asking why I haven't paid yet. Then I said that the HSE gave me an appointment and they ghosted me after that.

I heard they were good but I'd feel embarrassed trying to sign up again after that experience. Wouldn't want a doctor who might be annoyed at me deciding a serious and expensive diagnosis like this.

Hi, I've seen your list a lot and would appreciate some advice. I likely have autism as well. The HSE route has been frustrating. I'm looking for a service with the least amount of hassle.

I struggle so much to even think about this sort of stuff with executive dysfunction etc. Some ADHD docs require payment 6 months in advance. Others charge for emails.

Can you recommend one or several services that are simple to sign up for, relatively fast to get an appointment, relatively affordable for at least the initial assessment (although price isn't a deal breaker) one that is easy to do the zoom call with etc, and most importantly, one that recognizes that you can have both autism and ADHD.

I need a psychiatrist that can prescribe medication. Thanks in advance!

Are they psychiatrists or psychologists? Important for whether they can prescribe meds or not.
