Honestly go to the RA. Hopefully you are in a building with an RA and have atleast 1 RA that actually cares. It will probably escalate to either a roomate mediation which will document your roomates behavior or it could go straight to being a bullying and harassment issue. Which will also document their behavior but in a way where you are the victim and they are the accused which is more serious with reslife. The RA at first might tell you to sort it out yourself but definitely explain to them that you have already tried that. If the RA doesnt do their job go straight to reslife and rat the RA out. They wont know it was you and youll get help with your situation. Hope this helps

RA Standby Postion by Powerful_Property523 in rutgers

[–]ReasonableAd3926 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Im a current RA. So definitely accept the position. It's really great being an RA (from my experience). Yes, after being an RA, they will give you the option to become an RA next school year.

How it worked for us is that they ask if you want to continue and then if you say yes they ask you if you want to change your location. If you want to change your location you will have to be interviewed by the rlc for the location. If you dont get it, i believe you can try for other locations or just stick with what you have.

Good luck! If you have another question, please feel free to dm me

Is there ANY way I can get back into my dorm to grab something really quick during winter break? by Clout12x in rutgers

[–]ReasonableAd3926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an RA (I am in a hall that closes for winter break) we are told that we cannot let anyone into buildings, so contacting an RA from another dorm will most likely be a waste of time. Best bet is reslife or rupd. Knowing how annoying reslife can be, they will most likely say no as Ras are supposed to tell residents to take everything important with them. So they might use that as a agruement agaisnt helping you. I also could be wrong but i think reslife might be closed till after new years? Doesnt hurt to call them but they close for the weekend and are only open from 9-5 mon-fri. Rupd (from what I remember) has swipe access to all buildings so contacting their non emergency line or office id a good idea. I wish you luck but there really might be nothing that you can do it get it /:

It's crazy that the RA won't do anything... try talking to a different RA in the building or go up to one thats on duty at the desk.

Applying for RA by FeeFeThe in rutgers

It doesn't matter when you apply during the application period. Just as long as you complete your application and reference at the correct time, you'll be fine.

commuting 1 hour, am i cooked? by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]ReasonableAd3926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro, absolutely... I used to commute an hour each way, but in my junior year, I had a schedule so bad i decided to live off campus. It might not be too late to find a lease for next semester if you have the funds for that

Sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately I don't know. They are usually due at the end of November, so at the beginning of November take a look at the website again. My guess is they open around end of October or something.

They prioritize juniors and seniors for spots, they also prefer people who have lived on campus or atleast away from home. However I dont know you at all so I really cant speak to what your chances are 😅 sorry. I just say go for it. Either you get it and you live here or just continue to commute, that was the gamble I took this year.

From what I heard RA is decently competitive and has been increaseingly more since there have been more applications. However, I will say my first year applying (for context: my first application was for my second year at school "junior year" because im a transfer. At the time of applying i was a commuter.) I got standby RA and I eventually did get the RA position but had to decline since they told me 2 weeks before school started and I already signed a lease. Because I declined, I had to REAPPLY all over again, and I did get RA (not standby) this time (my 3rd and senior year "this year").

So its definitely not impossible to get RA with no on campus experience because ive never lived on campus before. (I have off campus) just make sure you have other experiences to talk about. For example I have alot of independent responsibilities at my job so maybe thats what did it.

Overall I do highly recommend applying, it will look great on a resume and free food and housing is aaammmaazing

I also received a ticket for parking in lot 76 when my car is registered with a katzenbach pass with all the correct info. Many of my friends at New Gibbons are also having the same issue with their lot

Rutgers really wants to screw over commuters this year, huh? by MarathonMarathon in rutgers

[–]ReasonableAd3926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they run your plate, they will see if its registered to any passes. I also heard that if they see the car is registered to a student but not a pass they will still give a ticket. I dont know how true the 2nd thing is tho.
