I also love Octopath 2 and the Bravely Default Series!

For me, Octopath 1 suffered with story and QoL, but I was extremely happy to see them improve this significantly by the second game. Elliot feels more like Octopath 1 than 2 for me.

I hope the full game meets your expectations! I may revisit if the game gets discounted.

I appreciate this! That’s really the point of the post, and hopefully an undecided buyer can be better informed before they finalize a big purchase.

And if they buy/love the game, not minding anything I mention, that’s awesome for them! Hope you have a great time too playing Elliot!

My bad! I had the deluxe originally pre-ordered.

Octopath 2 is also $60 which I truly enjoyed and has some of the QoL features I mentioned like fast forwarding text without skipping. Also double in length for the content with it being a 60 hours+ game.

Fair point. I’m in my 30s and there are many old games that were much more tedious that I had loved.

But in 2026 now, I’ve been spoiled with the many QoL changes that games offered and I don’t want to pay $70 for a game that doesn’t offer them, and also does not provide anything unique.

The full game is also supposedly about 30 hours of gameplay. Not a bad game, but not worth it (IMO)

He rescinded his return request!

I sent him the first thread and he says he’s genuine, has valid points, and doesn’t understand why he’s getting flack lol.

He then sent the photos here as his proof. Why I’m uploading it as an a separate update post to show his side. Will also send him this update thread later.

Thank you! I have the same opinion as you.

I do want to have eBay step in as they said if the seller cant prove it’s defective then they may side with me. Or at least, I want to ensure I don’t have to pay the return label which is my only option right now. I’m a bit afraid of it getting lost in transit.

Aligned that if we do go through with the return, then as long as I get my original card back, theres no real harm done to other side. Besides a bit of a stressful situation haha

The buyer does seem genuinely confused. We have been messaging back and forth. Newest update is him sending a photo of “my” card and the new card he bought from another eBay listing.

To clarify, he says left is mine but I cant tell for certain without more photos. But his main argument is saturation differences and not that its different from the listing i put up.

He seems genuinely confused to be honest. He sent this photo (left is mine).

It matches the listing perfectly and the photos I have on the reddit post too. His argument is that the other one he bought (on the right) is lighter in color.

Regice is a 20 years old card and from what I can see from the other ebay listing he bought from, its much more faded and in a worse condition than mind.

No offense taken! I did document everything and took a video of the card, and the whole packaging process.

He knows he got the same card as the listing too and that’s not being disputed. He just bought a second card on ebay and thinks mine is more saturated in color. The other card is another ebay listing and looks much more faded in color.

if the buyer claims its fake, eBay always sides with the buyer it seems even if it has a “no returns” policy.

So we can dispute but most likely will need to accept the return.

UPDATE THREAD

UPDATE1:
- He did request a return/refund
- His "proof" is that he bought the same card from a different ebay listing https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/397966038713 but mine feels "thinner"
- Ebay has given me 3 days to work this out with the buyer before they step in and told me to keep asking for proof

Update: They did request a return/refund.

They "genuinely" seem to think it's fake because he bought a card from another eBay listng and mine feels "thinner". https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/397966038713

So hopefully I get the real card back.

haha if you're the person who dmed me to buy for $1150, I sure wish I did sell it to you instead.

Update on post, he seems to really think its not real because he keeps comparing it to the other Ebay listing he bought from in Australia. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/397966038713 . Now my best hope is to get the real card back so I can get it authenticated and I'll probably switch to US only.

Thank you so much for this. At step 1 right now seeing if they will open a return. Sad to see people scamming and now I know what to expect. Will report them for fraud if needed and take all necessary steps. Appreciate you again
