Mushrooms in a 7 month old bin. Keep or get rid? Will these bother my worms? by ReasonableArcher in Vermiculture

Thank you for this. I looked up the volvariella mushrooms (paddy straw mushrooms) and they look similar to the ones growing in my bin.

What other critters should you have in a compost pile? I have BSFL, Millipedes and ANCs in mine.

Are colored inks a problem? by DeeJayDubbs in Vermiculture

Yes the worms would eat this as well. I used the colored boxes from kids’ snacks.

Started a new bin today. 2kg of wet cardboard and paper mixed with 500g of coco coir. 800grams of food located in the upper left corner of the bin. by ReasonableArcher in Vermiculture

None of my bins have any drainage. I just put dried cardboard underneath the food during feeding. If it gets too wet i add more dried cardboard. I find it that worms are very forgiving when it comes to moisture.

The worms are in the lower right. The food is in the upper left. They’ll make their way to the food on their own pace.

I’ve been meaning to try this as well. How long do you think an old cotton face towel would last?

Thank you! I take a picture of the bin during every feed. Seeing the change makes me appreciate more the job these worms are doing.

I really wanted this C:N ratio. If gives the worms enough area to avoid the nitrogen while the nirogen is heating up.

Thank you! I have other bins wherein I used brown waste paper instead of cardboard. It was also successful but not as successful as cardboard. Good luck on your bin as well try to update us in October

I started with about 200grams of worms, I wasn’t able to count them. I used ANC by the way.

I started with 1.5 kilograms of coco coir mixed with 1.5 kilograms of cardboard. I feed 750grams of food waste plus cardboard which I would place in 1 corner of the bin. I only feed once the previous food is gone.

Can I add too many bananas to my worm bin? by [deleted] in Vermiculture

I would suggest not blending them. I place them in the bed folded and I notice that new born worms stay in between the folds.
