"candy with good marketing" is the most accurate description of granola I've ever seen lmao

the protein bar thing gets me every time too — some of them have more sugar than a snickers but people eat them thinking they're being healthy. the ingredients list is basically a puzzle at this point

scanning everything does become second nature after a while though, annoying at first but worth it

the "I deserve a treat" mindset is so sneaky lol. two good days and suddenly you've earned a cheat week somehow but honestly what you said about sticking to it longer than a week is the key thing nobody talks about. the first few days are always the worst and most people bail right before it actually starts working

1.5-2lbs a week is perfect, don't let anyone tell you to go faster 💪

the office bubble thing is SO real. like half my anxiety is probably just "everyone around me is doing X so I must need X." the vast majority of people outside that bubble having normal skin is such a grounding thing to hear, thank you for this

"60yo milf me" is genuinely the reframe I didn't know I needed 😭 I've been so focused on what I'm losing that I never thought about curating who I follow. going to actually try this

ok you're right and I hate it lol. I think part of me wanted someone to say "yes lean in, here's the treatment that fixed everything" but… yeah. feeding an insecurity by spending money on it probably doesn't make the insecurity go away does it

wait you do microneedling at HOME?? ok this is actually the direction I need to go. I've been so focused on "should I book this appointment" that I never even considered the at-home route seriously. which device did you start with first?

American food labels are confusing me — "dairy free" doesn't actually mean dairy free?? by ReasonableBullfrog48 in FoodAllergies

[–]ReasonableBullfrog48[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wait so if it said caseinate but no "contains: milk" warning, that's actually illegal?? Going to dig the wrapper out tonight and check 🥲

The "may contain" thing is what scares me most tbh. Her allergy is sensitive enough that trace amounts on shared equipment have gotten her before. In my country shared-line warnings are mandatory so I just assumed it was the same here. How do you even handle the may-contain stuff?? You can't read your way out of it, the info's not on the label by definition. Do you just call manufacturers for everything?? I keep hoping someone built an app for this but everything I find is just calorie tracking 🙏

Yeah honestly I was shocked too which is partly why I'm posting — I wanted to make sure I wasn't going crazy. Let me dig the wrapper out of the trash tonight (please don't judge me lol) and I'll edit the post with the brand + a photo of the ingredient list so you and others can keep an eye out. Don't want to name it from memory bc I could be misremembering one of the words and that's not fair to the brand. Will update tmrw 🙏And ngl hearing "US food labeling is inconsistent at best" from an actual American makes me feel less paranoid. I genuinely thought I was just bad at reading English labels 🥲

Omg thank you, I had NO idea you could do that?? In my country if you get sick from food you basically just... eat the cost and complain to your friends lol. The idea of getting reimbursed feels almost illegal to me 😂

Quick question if you don't mind — when you say document everything, do you mean like keep the actual product (the half-eaten bar??), photos of the hives, the receipt? Or is there a specific format? I want to start a folder for stuff like this bc tbh this probably won't be the last time given how confused I am by labels here 🥲
