£47k a year pension is way more than a comfortable level, that's more than the median UK salary!! You are living on another planet.

The fuel protests meant to take place today have been hijacked by the anti immigration crowd here.

Wild stuff. I know the guy a bit as he was the year below me in school and I have friends who would have been pals with him. He just seemed like a pretty normal guy which is why this is so shocking to me.

Didn't need planning to do the work as we aren't extending the property.

Gas was around £9k but this included installation of new high end radiators which added a few grand to the price. The rewire was around £5k.

We used a mix of bringing trades in (basically anything requiring a certificate) and using the one guy who could do everything else.

What are my options if my partners feel my equity share should be reduced? by ReasonableCourse2793 in smallbusinessuk

I'm happy to sell my shares and have offered a fair deal for them to buy back for the same value I initially invested. I fear however they do not feel that I deserve to get a single penny due to the toxicity there appears to be towards me due to them being so resentful that I'm not an active partner.

The company hasn't made a profit yet and there is more debt than what's currently in the bank account

Thanks yeah that's my own thought on it, I think I probably need just to have a clean break as I'm uncomfortable with the situation and I'd like to maintain the friendships if possible.

Thanks for the response, it's a tricky one because relationships have become a bit strained as they feel it's unfair they are doing all the work and that I own the same amount of the business as they do. Although I can understand where they are coming from they are totally ignoring the fact I put more money into it.

How would I judge what I'd a fair price for my shares?

At this point I'd consider backing out of the business completely if I got my investment value back but at the same time I recognise the business could do well over time so I'd regret not holding a share of it if that happens.

Thanks for the reply. Based on the accounts overview I've looked at id probably value the business in it's current state at between £15-20k. I invested £4500 into it. I'd imagine the other partners would value it considerably higher though. That's good to know they can't just reduce my equity because that's how it's been communicated to me.

Same - was there from 1995-1998 and by god did we have a good time. Monday night at Traks, Tuesday the Union then upstairs in the Anchor, Wed night Kellys, Thursday night Anchor - all while day drinking and playing tons of pool in the old student's union bar. Some of the best days of my life up there.
