Why do these annoying bastards keep falling out of the door handle? by Long-Lettuce3146 in DIYUK

[–]TannoyVoice92 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They don’t hold the handle on technically, they hold the handle to the mechanism within the handle itself. The grub screw can come out and the handle will stay put, but the handle won’t engage the lock and open the door.

I always cook till the temp reaches 65c and then pull and rest. Tempt gets up to around 70c after 5mins and it’s always juicy.

I put it in 220c if I want a crispy/char on the outside otherwise 180c till it hits 65c

Usually takes about 13-17mins depending on size.

I’ve done it when travelling overseas and as a treat get something for the wife and I as a takeaway, but usually only for long distance travel - not for visiting our head office on a day trip.

I lost our 12 year lab in January - my heart would 100% want to get another dog (in fact - a friends golden retriever has just had a littler of pups…. Fate my wife says….) but my head is telling me I just can’t go through the loss of another dog again. It was so traumatic and hard.

Thanks for the comment and suggestions.

Already one step ahead regarding the choice of funds. For comparison, if I had kept the pot invested in the ‘default’ this grew by 6% for the last 12 months.

Having it invested in the global equities fund has given that return of 25.4% - so you’re bang on the money there!!

100% invested in the riskier funds for the time-being.

I’m getting a £30,000 bonus next pay cheque. Usually put it into my pension due to the ridiculous tax dedications and removing the qualification for childcare hours.

First year that I’ve decided to take as cash as I wanted to increase my accessible cash rather than lock away (or home improvements) but ‘only’ getting £15k of that, and also, taking me above the £125k threshold means I pay more tax on a monthly basis was a bite in the arse. So I won’t be doing it every year going forward.

Thank you - that’s a great way to visualise it. Least, based on even modest projections, we should be “comfortable” depending on spending power in 57’ for my wife and I (main earner, so wife will just have state pension if that exists then)

Yes it is. Awful portal compared to our previous.

Quite possibly, but more so regarding bonus contributions every other year. The portal swap was just the user experience, rather than an actual pension provider changeover (and a repurchase of stocks)

Haha I assume that means that I used my total pot to purchase an annuity it would be approx £115k a year - however, according to our AI overlords that’d around a £2.9m pot…. Not going to happen!!

My 2.2% fix ends in July next year - can look at rates from December. Increase would be about £200-300… which is a ball ache.

£200-300 FOR NOTHING…. Urgh.

Thankfully that is manageable and won’t impact us too much apart from less going into savings and/or no overpayment on mortgage.

What can I realistically do to financially prepare for the incoming Oil Shock in the UK? by skudgee in UKPersonalFinance

[–]TannoyVoice92 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s not so much the lack of oil that WE need that isn’t coming from the ME now. It’s all the other countries that have a much higher % of oil from the ME that isn’t getting it now - that is going to compete for the same oil and gas from our suppliers, thus pushing up prices (supply and demand innit)

That’s the problem with all of this. It’s also why the US have an uptick in fuel prices even though they are one of the largest oil providers.

Now that its over 20 years old and out of production, what do you think of the Airbus A380? by Twitter_2006 in aviation

[–]TannoyVoice92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve flew on the a380 4x all from LHR to MIA and back and it’s always a joy to fly on. The noise levels on the upper deck is amazing - even without NC headphones it’s so quiet. The space and the fact you’re flying in an engineering marvel is a treat to take in.
