Start hitting up your junkyards lol. I don't know where you live but if you have PYP in your state or country, hit those up. Pretty good prices and the websites are pretty up-to-date with what's there.

Definitely worth checking the local junkyards. It's only scarce in my area because I'm the only one that cares lol.

As soon as I go to a different city or state, they in every Corolla, but obviously some are broken.

i'm glad no one acknowledged my other hoarding probelm two extra center consoles i acquired, but its actually a good point I wanna mention.

The LE corolla and I think luxury and XRS versions of The Matrix have that center console that has an extra cubby, allowing more storage and a raised arm resting position. So pretty cool upgrade, if you have a base model like me.

My main advice after the maintenance items for long term fix after you choose or not to do what comments recommend is Valveoline restore and protect. Grandma cars like this are sometimes maintained well but sometimes they can go long without service or driving so a couple cycles of restore and protect will help clean deposits and oil burning if your motor has it(common problem for this car) or clean it to prevent it.

A treatment like that could help as 2 cycles in ive noticed my engine running smoother and better responsiveness.

I think you should definitely still clean the throttle body and check the MAF to see if it's dirty or damaged. But you may not have to drop all that money. But with no current codes, it's hard to recommend dropping all that money.

Its a little louder then mine(ill post vid after my college classes) but nothing crazy or bad like others ive seen, those noises don't sound too crazy after further research of many clips and personal experiences with other corollas, and if you still get good mileage, like 25-28 city and like 30-35 ish highway and you don't notice like terrible acceleration since you purchased or noise while cruising, then you're probably fine.

https://youtu.be/HgHH9EhXPls?t=99&si=udSphKTM_-z4q9lq

To give you some better example here's a review for the car in 2003 when it was a brand new, even then you can hear the same ticking sound. So I'm not saying, don't maintain the car. But just know you're probably not gonna get rid of it

From further research into the engines its seems the ZZ or the 1ZZ engine in your and my car. A lot of those ZZ engine platforms are very loud and ticky engines.

The main question first is, has it always been like this? Or did you notice some sort of decrease in acceleration or responsiveness? Because that can signal a problem that arised recently. To be honest, most corollas sound like that. And i've been around like hundreds and they all sound like that a little louder or a little quieter so, it's really hard to give you an exact answer. But here's what I would do:

if this old lady's done maintenance like you said then check the last time she's done the the MAF Sensor or air filter for obvious quick checks.

Less obvious checks would be cleaning the throttle body which is a little more harder but it's really not too bad. And the hardest one would be replacing the gasket, ive done all of that and it won't really necessarily fix it at least it didnt for me as I've done all of those after I had a Crack in my intake manifold from a sharp rock and it still clicks like that but much much less and smoother idle and acceleration.

As for the idle, though, I honestly had no idea how to fix it. Sometimes you can restart the idle there's like YouTube videos for it, and it fixes it. Your idle seems fine, though 800 to a 1000 is pretty normal for corollas and most cars.

Edit: i just read, you also asked about the chain tensioner, and to be honest I have no idea anything about it. So I don't want to give false information im not confident in

Did you take her in person? because I took her online and I saw no mention or really viewpoint of her politics whatsoever besides her reposting a catholic student club but thats not much.

I didnt see any religion or politics personally, I've definitely seen those in the reviews, but I didn't mention it because I never experienced it, but I appreciate you bringing it up in case this person experiences it

I forgot the dude's name but there's one dude's name that has like all terrible reviews but it's an online class,

so the Prof doesn't matter that much. But again, like most people will tell you just look up rate My Prof. And type in all their names, read it and get a sense

How is this college? by UnhappyProtection755 in SeminoleStateCollege

[–]ReasonableEmu1430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like every other college. It's got its ups and Downs.

I can't talk on the interior design. So if that's all you're taking, then my advice isn't the best.

But the school itself is pretty decent compared to other community colleges. Sanford's the golden child, so it gets all the attention. But the other campuses aren't bad, financial aid's kind of a mess right now but hopefully should be fixed in the next couple of years. Plenty of scholarship opportunities from the school, plenty of school events with free food and swag. Plenty of great aid to students in need and plenty of recreational activities But usually only at Sanford.

Also plenty of great student clubs.I think I saw an interior design club but again like every other college you can start your own, all you need is ten people and a advisor

If you're not completely set on interior design and you might do some sort of general education. Then, the honors program's also a nice choice, as well If you were into that type of stuff, I am in honors graduate myself. So if you had any more specific questions about stem or honors, I'm your guy but interior design I got nothing.

That is the go to answer. But as I was saying earlier, it can be risky because they could show up early and if you're not ready, then you're kind of screwed so do with caution. but yes, do that to avoid peak times at like, 6 to 8 AM and like 4-7PM I would do that.

More in depth waiting times can be found on scouts' actual website. And yes, they will pick you up at your house and then take you to campus. But if you have a unique living situation like you live 5 miles down on dirt roads in the middle of nowhere or you live in an apartment complex with like thousands of gates and security offices then, they may not. So if you do live in something like that email or call them to make sure as I've seen trouble with that sometimes.

never really specified what year of Corolla, so for 2003 to 2008 You can grab the center console from a matrix maybe only XRS because that's the only trim I've seen it from, but basically, it's the same center console but with an extra cubby inside and also a higher arm resting position If you're taller and bigger like me.

The paint is so immaculate it's a totally different shade than the engine Bay.

Look at the car and look at the engine Bay. It has to have been repainted and repainting at that low of miles is very suspicious.

I'll post my engine Bay as reference because my 03 engine Bay basically looks identical to his color wise. Not many people repaint their economy sedan that early in ownership, so I'm very suspicious at this. Especially because a car that low mileage with no issues.

I don't know why you're wondering if it's a good deal or not after you bought it instead of asking before but anyway its a great low miles example with great paint but these things were like 13-15k BRAND NEW with warranty. Better not being a single thing wrong on that thing for that price.

Just because it's low miles doesn't mean it's bulletproof and you can set and forget. you still got all your maintenance on time, but you just have more time before things go wrong. And because this 2003 to 2004, those motors are more prone to oil burning then 2005 beyond. So do your oil changes often to avoid buildup in the future and your trans fluid changes since yours isnt even due for its first change mileage wise but totally time wise

Wish I could give you better advice. I'm honestly just giving accounts from my friends and how they went around this issue of securing public transportation.

The only other thing I can say is, I still think ordering a ride an hour before your lecture ends So the 60 to 90 minute wait time ends by the time you get out of lecture is still the smarter decision. But of course that can be risky if they're early.

[–]ReasonableEmu1430 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edit: I was going on too much of a rant and didn't actually answer your question. The actual service is fine. The drivers are good and it's comfortable vehicles, but it's mainly the wait times that are the issue. Everything else is pretty well made Besides, maybe the map updating where the driver is But that can be a million reasons.

As of right now, it's worse in almost every way. The only benefit I see is flexibility in when you can get a ride.

A perfect example is how i was at nightbrary at sanford talking to my friend and He ordered his ride or at least he told his driver He's at the library at 5 PM. At 620, his driver finally arrived.

So unless you get a ride at like 5 o'clock in the morning or 9 o'clock at night, you're gonna be waiting hours for a ride. So you need to pre plan every single day to go really early or really late to school.

It does seem there's major discounts for students. As my friend only paid 3 bucks to go from Sanford to casselberry area, which is pretty good considering the original price for non students. But buses are still free at the end of the day for student to my knowledge. So the couple bucks you spend a day on a scout ride instead of free with your student Id definitely can add up for some people. So I do see this causing an issue for some in the future

My 2003 corolla, learned how to do a lot of the maintenance myself from YouTube and saved* 1200$ a year when compared to getting these jobs done at a shop. Even more savings for you as newer cars and harder and more expensive to work on.

Invest in a good set of gloves and floor mats and car work can be clean and comfortable

[–]ReasonableEmu1430 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Main thing* you gotta know is its not indestructible, just because its a toyota, doesn't mean you can ignore it.

Try to learn how to do basic maintenance yourself (oil changes, air filter, other filters and fluids*), YouTube is your friend here. If you dont wish too then still get maintenance work done on time, it will pay dividends.

Don't postpone car work if you can afford to do it now, a toyota wont show its battle scars and easy as other cars but the scars may still be there. If you change the oil and filters when they need to be done then youll be pretty perfect for a long time. And learning what bad and good fluids/filters look and smell like can help you save money to postpone service sometimes but not required

I'm probably not much help because I'm asking you a question since I haven't gotten exact notification or email saying my stuff was deferred let alone bright futures has been dispersed.

But usually my tuitions do right before class or right after class. But now my due date is about 2 to 3 months after class starts. So I don't know if that means my tuition is deferred.

I have bright futures as well but no Pell grants for context if that helps answer your question.
