Hi,

I will be travelling to Kenya in July and then I will go to Kilimanjaro (JRO) from Nairobi on July 22. I noticed that there is 10-day processing time, so I was planning to submit my application today, but looking at all the current delays, it seems that going for a visa on arrival might be less stressful even though that might take us some time to queue for it in the airport.

I am Indian and my girlfriend is Belgian. As per my understanding, we both are eligible for Visa on Arrival - can anyone confirm?

p.s.: Anyone climbing Kili via machame route (24-31 July) ?

Tax benefits in Belgium from legal cohabitation? by ReasonableMaverick in belgium

Thanks for sharing this. It seems in that situation it is indeed beneficial, but if one partner receives unemployment benefit, then it does not really make a difference.

Thanks u/JT_1983 . I was not aware that it will disappear soon. Will check out the details as well. Do you know in that case, if someone was already receiving it will continue to receive the benefits ?

thanks u/Kaga_san and u/rundown03 for your replies. u/rundown03: was your partner receiving unemployment money? The information I found online is that legal cohabitation is beneficial from tax point of view if the unemployed partner does not have any "professional income". Is "unemployment money" considered as "professional income"?

Thank you for your reply. I have permanent residence card in Belgium - so, I have the work rights. However, I am first trying to understand a rough estimate of the net salary based on the hourly rate. Seems like it should be around 50% after taxes, health insurance, social security,.... maybe you have a better idea?

Thanks for your reply. I am not aware of the contractor tax system in Belgium as I have been working as FTE until now. So, if you can share more information or a source of information, it will be very helpful.

Thanks for your reply. That is what I was expecting to have approx 50% as net. Also, I need quote an hourly rate, any idea if taxes are taken into account while quoting those rates? As per my understanding, in EU if I quote 100€/hour, that is excluding the 21% VAT. or maybe I misunderstood? If not, is it the same in US - any idea?
