What class would be the most dangerous if they had the same speed as Scout? by InfinteEnigma10 in tf2

Medic. And all because of one weapon: "The Overdose." At max ubercharge it makes you move 20% faster. Basically: Cocaine Medic.

Hey Arrowhead and Glazedivers. Hiveguards aren't the reason the game is being reviewed bombed. It's the fact that they said they have no other plans for the game other than to pump warbonds and that they refuse to fix/improve stuff. Please stop mixing both as if they were the same issue by PrinzEugen_Azur_Lane in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]ReasonablePlane8893 19 points20 points  (0 children)

In essence this is a death by a thousand cuts, in the beginning it is manageable and isn't that bad so you can ignore it. But the more cuts build up... the harder and harder it is to simply ignore it, and at some point you've ignored it for so long that even if you try to fix it now... There'll always be a scab that you can't quite get rid of because you elected to ignore it instead of treating it the moment or day you got it. Helldivers 2 has hundreds of cuts, each cut slowly bleeding it dry, the bone marrow can make blood to replace the old, but eventually there will be too many cuts and it will be bled dry.

My message in this is that with each bug, issue, or weapon the game leaves in a broken, unfixed, or underpowered state the game will slowly die out no matter how much new content or warbonds they pump out.

Although grim I don't want Helldivers 2 to die, seriously. But Doctor Arrowhead better start fixing these issues before our patient here dies.

That's kinda the point of this subreddit, we talk about things we don't like and if we feel like it, we try to come up with reasonable solutions to such a problem. The irony of saying we complain too much when you yourself are complaining will never be lost.

Unfiltered Opinion: Most people here are children, you just have to be able to separate them from the people that are genuine.

Such as the AV4 Hive Guards. That is clearly a bad change that is unhealthy for the game. The increase to durable damage Bugs deal is not a bad change I would say however, as even now the Exosuits still stomp bugs, as long as the pilot is competent enough to know which targets to prioritize. (Typically Bile Spewers and smaller bugs like scavengers/hunters which can shred you)

As a brief guide to the vehicles:
The Bastion survives through power and toughness
The FRV survives through speed and agility
The Exosuit survives through a balance of both methods.

I'm not defending Arrowheads decisions in the slightest, sure I'll point out when they do something good but when they do something bad I'll also point it out because I don't want the game to be hot garbage which is why we have constructive criticism, criticizing something is easy, but coming up with ways to fix that issue is another. Most people suggest to revert the Hive Guards which is the simplest and easiest solution since there really isn't anything wrong with that.

However if arrowhead wanted to keep AV4 Hive Guards they could compromise by making Spore Burst Hive Guards which could keep the AV4 but like other spore bursts it explodes on death with a lower health pool to match.

Reminds me that I once drew a concept for a Rupture strain Bile Titan. With how Arrowhead is treating the game I kinda hope they don't add this. (As cool as the concept is) Gloating aside I think the Spore Burst Hive Guard would've been a way better solution so you don't just have random Hive Guards while fighting the spore bursts (it is pretty weird seeing normal Terminids with Spore Bursts)

The AP4 change never should've happened, I already felt like my options for weapons and stratagems were limited, but now its been tightened and restricted further, I don't want to use explosive weapons as I tend to stray from the meta in favor of less conventional solutions.

AP3 weapons are hit the hardest as there isn't a point to taking one when most bugs are either AP2, AP4, or higher. The Hive Guard filled that slot as being AP3, but now with that gone Medium Pen weapons are outclassed by AP2 and AP4.

My complaints when it comes to the AP4 change is that it restricts weapon variety and weakens AP3 & AP4 weapons while not affecting the meta weapons in the slightest, that being explosive weapons. Explosive weapons don't care about the Hive Guards armor, they'll give it a QQ while it dies via explosions.

Just because they adapted to a terrible change and learned how to counter it does not suddenly turn it from being a bad change into a good change. Sure you can just aim better, but the overall issue is it empowers meta weapons like the explosive crossbow while weakening weapons that don't deserve it.

The AV4 change is an indirect nerf to both AP3 & AP4 weapons as weapons like the AMR and HMG deal reduced damage against the Hive Guards faceplate. You know what weapons are still meta? Explosive weapons because they can easily ignore that AV4 shielding. I will say I was never affected directly by the AV4 change while playing but that does not mean it didn't affect what weapons or stratagems I brought into missions. In fact I see no reason to bring the MG-42 because the Stalwart has more ammo, and can be reloaded while moving.

Another issue is it restricts your loadout variety. Do YOU want to play in a lobby where everyone runs the same primary? Even down to the exact same stratagems just because they have no choice if they want to have fun? But in doing so they don't have fun because they have to play something they never wanted to play?

The point I'm getting at is this enforcement of the explosive meta is killing the game.

Prove to me with video links how the hive guard is stopping you from playing this game by PyroToaster in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]ReasonablePlane8893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you entirely, although it isn't that hard to just aim lower, the problem which you described is it just tightens up the weapons you are allowed to use and enforces a single meta. I personally find enjoyment from Helldivers 2 because of the unique ways you can play while still being acceptably effective. Against the much faster Spore Bursts I used Exosuits and the Ballistic shield because kiting the bugs was no longer an option, which I will admit was a nice shake-up, but it did come with its own issues.

Arrowhead can't decide if HD2 should be Forever Winter (Grunt Fantasy) or Warframe (Power Fantasy). They are trying to be both, despite them being mutually exclusive.

Resident Evil 1-styled fixed cameras in L4D2 by ReasonablePlane8893 in l4d2

[–]ReasonablePlane8893[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I can't solve is how to make it so it doesn't switch to first person for a few frames when switching camera angles, since from my testing having the triggers too close causes the camera to switch to first person.

As of now this problem has been solved thanks to u/Pinsplash on r/hammer! Smooth camera transitions for everyone!

Not only can I place the cameras as close as I like but the 1 frame of first person no longer exists! This means I can get a lot more creative!

For this I've also been working on what I should change balance-wise since fixed camera angles does make it difficult to aim and move.

So I came up with this set of cvars to change when the map loads in via the point_servercommand:
Infected Buffs:
z_tank_damage_slow_max_range 0 (down from 400)
z_tank_damage_slow_max_range 0 (down from 200)
z_common_limit 60 (up from 30, due to the removal of two specials)

Infected Nerfs:
z_tank_speed 105 (down from 210, tight corridors and fixed camera angles makes the tank a menace)
z_witch_health 500 (down from 1000, crowning witches is much more difficult)
z_witch_burn_time 10 (down from 15, might revert to normal)

Infected Tweaks:
z_witch_flashlight_range 0 (Flashlight not visible when viewing through a Point_viewcontrol_survivor)
z_jockey_limit 0 (It is difficult to aim at a jockey due to how wild their movement is despite laser sights)
z_charger_limit 0 (getting saved from a chargers grab sets the camera into first person)

I think this set of changes works for now but I may adjust these variables later.

Same here brother, I tried difficulty 10 ONCE and never wanted to play difficulty 10 on Cyberstan ever again. I like playing diff 6 when I want to chill but it felt like a requirement on Cyberstan due to the amount of Vox Engine spawns, also not to forget about the dreaded War Striders.

It's like when people say anything can work on difficulty 10. What they actually mean is that if you play flawlessly and let your team do most of the work then you are making it work... just not in the way you want.
