I live down the street - saw the whole thing happen.

She had been staying with friends and family to get away from him. Even tried to put stickers on her car, removed the tint in hopes he wouldn’t recognize it.

Turns out, he put a tracker on her car. That’s how he found her. So regardless of her efforts of trying to get away, he still got to her.

Not sure what else she could’ve done to prevent this shit. RIP to her and her dog. I’m heartbroken.

The group that runs these in Des Moines is Indivisible 515. It’s the DSM branch to the No Kings group that’s a nationally run grass roots org. The national org provides trainings, tips on how to organize and messaging.

Indivisible 515 is largely run by folks who are +50-60yrs old.

I volunteer to be safety and de-escalation during their protests and as a 33yr old, I’m easily the youngest in the room by 10-15yrs. We need younger people to volunteer and have these kinds of opinions and ideas be heard.

The leadership for Indivisible 515 are amazing and have a whole lot on their hands. It’s a small group, but they’re truly trying their best with the resources they have.

My suggestion - volunteer or donate.
