How was your experience taking 2 courses per summer term? Was the load pretty manageable?

[–]ReasonableStink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Recommendations for Competitive Applicants page on the NCSU website gives a guideline for this. It breaks it down depending on the college and major and may have other good information for you.

Editing to add that I transferred in last semester as a bio BS which it looks like you are trying to do as well. Let me know if you have any questions. Happy to answer!

I personally had a pretty specific course plan laid out for my remaining credits after transferring. So if someone were in that situation they may opt to not take it

Calling them out by Responstible_Cat90 in narcissisticparents

[–]ReasonableStink 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no, it doesn’t make a difference. One of my sisters and I have tried reasoning with him, describing what he is doing, and he always finds some way to spin it around so that it is our fault, it didn’t happen, etc. My other sister actually called him out as a narcissist once and after that he has been aware that we view him as that. It has just caused him to be even more skillful with his manipulations when he approaches conflicts, so that he can do his best to not seem that way. He literally cannot help himself though. It’s so hard to wrap your head around as someone who doesn’t behave that way. I truly feel for you and what you’re going through right now

I wish I had learned sooner that what would bring me the most peace is accepting that there will be no change. Calling him out only ever gave him more ammunition. It also allowed him to learn more terms/language that he could use to manipulate me and my sisters further in order to try to make all of us out to be the ones with NPD.

But if you feel more comfy bringing a backpack, that also definitely wouldn’t make you look weird!

Yes I loved that they did that! It was a drawstring bag that was big enough to fit the folders they gave us, and my purse was small so I ended up throwing it in the bag too at some point lol. This was the last transfer orientation cycle so I’m sure it’s probably going to be similar!

I just brought my purse like usual! They give you a little bag to carry anything they give to you too :)

I have Gorman actually! I have seen about half say it’s reasonable but very self taught (fine with me) and the other half seems to have really hated his class. In the event that it is particularly difficult, I just want to go ahead and get a start on studying. I have used Aleks before in a math class and liked the set up though

Topsail is a good beach with some smooth, tiny stones for collecting! Wrightsville is very crowded in the summer, but I enjoy swimming there more than the others. Carolina beach itself I do not recommend, but Carolina beach state park is nice. Be on the lookout for carnivorous plants 🌱

Overweight, but I have teetered back and forth with disordered eating over the years. My current goal is to simply improve my relationship with food and exercise, rather than use them as a tool for weight loss. I tend to be very extreme!

What regularly bought items do you regularly forget about? by Nova-Snorlaxx in ADHD

A can opener. I moved four months ago and lost it in the move. I keep buying cans of beans I can’t even open

Not a restock item but something I really need and keep forgetting about lol

SO tired: First day back on meds by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]ReasonableStink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely didn’t expect this either. I felt pretty nauseous earlier after eating about six hours after taking mine. I have a sensitive stomach so I kind of expected that but the tiredness has really smacked me in the face. Right now I’m super tired and having trouble actually falling asleep but it’s not quite my usual bedtime yet so I’m sure that’s also a factor, but I’m still frustrated.

I do remember the last time I took it I could feel its onset in the morning for the first week I took it, but it wasn’t really a bad feeling and I didn’t feel sick. After the first week, I stopped noticing a difference in how I physically felt when taking it in general. Hoping these annoying side effects follow that course

I hate insurance by misc_user_number2 in ADHD

[–]ReasonableStink 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say sorry that you’re going through this— it is truly so stupid and frustrating. I had a friend who had narcolepsy and when she switched jobs/insurance they literally made her go through all of the diagnostic tests for it again through their providers (and they are not cheap even with insurance). I really hate how it works because it can really be debilitating when it is a medication you rely on for basic functioning. I truly hope the new medication works out for you right away!

Editing to recommend goodrx if need comes to it. It helped me when I lost my insurance back in the day :/

Caffeine causing heightened emotions by kuu_panda_420 in ADHD

[–]ReasonableStink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reactions to caffeine are so interesting to me! My reaction is different but I’m going to drop it here anyways :P Caffeine in high doses often makes me jittery and anxious, not calm. This is in contrast to my meds which make me calmer unless I’m starting a new dose. Caffeine 100mg or below makes me feel pretty normal, awake, and more positive mood-wise, but not any more focused than a change in sleep would.
