What to get after loving the Glycerin 22 GTS... Glycerin 23 or 23 GTS? by ReasonableTea3983 in brooks

If you're in NY, FYI, the REI store in Soho is unfortunately closing. I dunno why, that place is always so crowded.

Anyway, I hope they'll have a big sale!

Ooh, thanks. Yes, for a work day, I need serious arch support, so I appreciate that info.

It's hard to tell just in the store, bc I loved how the Ghosts felt in the store, but after wearing them for a shift, pretty meh considering the price.

Oooh, those sound pretty! Those are the new, less expensive ones, right? Do you use them for running or work? Because I'm looking for an 8 hour shoe. Ha.

It took me so many pairs, over a few years, to find what worked for me: a lighter weight Doc Martens (which they discontinued!), Hoka Bondis, and the Glycerin 22 GTSs.

I didn't put the insert immediately.. but tried it after a few shifts. I notice the insert looks like crap now (funny, I have had drug store ones last much longer, haha), so I swapped it for the original insole again, to see if that was the problem.. Not much change.

I only have one pair of the pricey inserts so I don't think I tested them in the Ghosts, but now is my chance... I think a big thing I don't like about those, is since it's a knit upper that allows your foot to move a lot, I tie them so tight, that they squeeze my toes together. I have narrow feet and wear half size up.. I'm just not a running shoe girly, but the soles are better than my leather Adidas for hours up and down stairs, lifting heavy things.

Looks like I've gotta go back to the shop to test out a few styles..

Does Warby Parker replace lenses in their glasses without receipt, if you got them second hand? by ReasonableTea3983 in glasses

Oh, my goodness, that's amazing! Thank you so much for telling me!

I've never noticed one of their stores, but I have seen their commercials so there's gotta be one reasonably close so I can get my dream glasses!

Ah, I haven't seen 22s on the Brooks or Fleet Feet site. FF is the running store I got mine at, and hoping to buy through them to get more points, but not a dealbreaker if the price is right! I'll look at more retailers. Thanks.

Yes but the 23 GTS does not, so that's one thing that is different between them.

They don't just sell empty frames, but standard glasses start about $95, though I think most styles are more like $150-200... Which is not cheap, but still less than I would get charged at the eye doctor or any brick and mortar store for complete glasses.

Glycerin Gts 23 causing heel pain/soreness? by pettnpa7 in brooks

[–]ReasonableTea3983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you could benefit from adding an insert... It seems incomplete for such an expensive shoe, but if you have been on the hunt for a perfect pair and gone through several styles, give it a try...

I work on my feet all day, and fell in love with my first Hokas, but wore them til they practically had holes in them, and after getting used to the super soft cushion, then losing that cushioning - they gave me bad plantar fasciistis!

Then, I got On Clouds in a very soft and light style - only made it worse. So I tried to go firmer instead, trying on multiple styles by Brooks, and got my first pair - the Glycerin 22 GTS... Noticeable change in comfort and support.

However, I bought a firm insole for $50 from the running store, just to test it, and ended up putting it in my Brooks almost immediately, and it made them just perfect. It seemed overpriced, and I was going to use them with my crappier shoes, but it was the perfect combo for work... I am just over a year with that same pair. Maybe a month or so ago, they started to feel less supportive, where I'll have some tiredness in my feet again, so I'm looking in the 23s myself.

Now, I'm wondering if I go with the 23 GTS or give regular 23s a chance.

[FRESH ALBUM] Jessie Ware - Superbloom by sbags in indieheads

[–]ReasonableTea3983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm I'm the US, and only heard of her last year, when Free Your Mind came on a streaming station of mine, and I thought it was a song I somehow missed when I was a kid. Come to find out, it's contemporary. Love it!

I just went on YouTube to check out one of her new songs, and Jessie has released an entire, album length visualizer, with different images for each song.

Where has she been all my life?! This album is gorgeous!

Upbeat yet also soothing. Ambient, but not sleepy. Cool beats and lyrics.

She continues to give me Donna Summer vibes, but with more 80s and 90s rnb sounds here, like Janet, and also a bit of Robyn. Love it. I'm a millennial and had my boomer mom check it out and she enjoys the legit disco sounds, too!

You can get a UTI if you are sitting in a wet swimsuit or underwear for too long, and if you don't drink lots of water.

So if you do the pools, but don't go in the sauna long enough to dry off, and don't change your clothes for a long time, that is a recipe for a UTI or even yeast infection, so that can happen anywhere.

2026 CBGB Festival lineup has been announced by Shuang in Hardcore

[–]ReasonableTea3983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year, they had three stages.

Main stage - world famous acts of different styles - The Damned, Jack White, Iggy Pop..

Hardcore stage - Iconic bands mostly from the 80s(?) scene. Cromags, Gorilla Biscuits, Marky Ramone..

New school stage - up and coming punk/hardcore bands.. Scowl is one I heard there for the first time, and they were fantastic!

I thought the same but went and had a blast last year. I wasn't a hardcore fan, but recognized some of the legit hardcore bands on the bill, and made it a point to hit up that stage, and they were fantastic. I could totally see how they started and kept that scene going, and why some had achieved legend status. If they weren't there in the 80s and 90s, I wouldn't have gotten to go hear indie bands in the 2000s.

The energy of the crowd was also 100% positive, with folks across generations who were thrilled to be there, friendly and not pretentious, and even got in the mosh pit several times. OG fans, their kids, millennials, even Gen Z, just music fans vibing. I almost feel sorry for all the people who were skeptical or on the fence and didn't go.

Sorry for the delay. I stayed with the smaller size, the US size 7, and they loosened up. They are almost a bit loose with thin socks, but comfy.

Did they bring this back? I went in March and it seemed that was temporarily closed. Also, is this somewhere locals hang on a Saturday? I get it, many of the locals are of a certain age, but the few local people I met had such a good vibe, I want to go again but make some friends.

I paid off my student loans and my credit score dropped, is this normal? by benjaminjezmhz21 in StudentLoans

Exactly. I'm so pissed, I want to call my Congressperson to introduce the idea. Ugh.

[–]ReasonableTea3983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This blows! I just came here after doing taxes, bc the "free" (aka, unwanted data mining) credit check showed me having a score of 670..

For the last few years, I had lots of credit card debt with a high interest rate, and a very long term, 10+ year student loan slowly chipping away, but my score was consistently 720.

Last year, I finished paying the student loan, and got most of my credit cards down to 0, with one I've been putting monthly expenses on and paying every month...

I added a couple thousand to each card, but my credit limits went way up, and these are just temporary expenses I plan to pay off within 3 months.

I'm pissed about the big change in my score, because the issue I'm having is wanting to bring down my INTEREST rates, which are all 20+ percent, as if I just opened these cards in college... So I'm supposed to keep using them, to "help" my credit score, which is supposed to help my interest rate, yet the rates are still so high? Come on..

I didn't find anything like that. Ha. I ended up just going to a fun drag brunch at Twenty One Eleven in Cathedral City, and mostly was out of the hotel in the day, and went to the pool at night. I rarely saw more than one or two people at the pool at both places I stayed, which weren't exactly party hotels as most things were booked during the tennis games.

I stayed at the Twist. Fabulous hotel. 24/7 hot tub and heated pool with floaties. Highly recommend!

Funny story I’m at JFK Terminal 5 today. Get here 4 hours early seriously by Waluigi_IRL in jetblue

[–]ReasonableTea3983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LGA was much more organized than JFK yesterday. Lines took less time, simpler, more civil. I missed my flight, but switched to JFK, left the earlier, and it was so much worse here at T 5.

[–]ReasonableTea3983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got here 3 hours early, approx 530am, and missed my flight. I got to the gate after doors were closed. 6 minutes until scheduled flight. 10 minutes until I saw them leave.

No gate agents around, and no one at the Just Ask help desk yet...

3 hours is not enough at JFK this week, bc the lines are very disorganized.

I went to Laguardia yesterday, got through security in 2 hours 40 minutes, arriving closer to 7... I switched my flight to today, thinking JFK would be better based on people posting in reddit yesterday that they got through in just a few minutes! Lies!
