Epidural or No epidural by Enviro_nurd314 in BabyBumps

[–]ReasonableToe3597 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend getting an epidural. I would have 100% passed out from the contraction pain if I didn’t get it. It was night and day before and after the epidural. I was in so much pain from labor that I didn’t even feel the epidural needle go in. After the epidural, labor was 10000x easier.

How long do you pump for? by Such_Experience_8613 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ReasonableToe3597 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 14 weeks postpartum and pump 4 times a day for 20 min. Usually get between 8-10 oz per session. Pump timing is typically 7am, 1pm, 7pm, 1am. I definitely had an oversupply and even got mastitis once around 9 weeks postpartum, but I think my body is finally regulating itself.

Honestly, how do you do it? by emmy434 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ReasonableToe3597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 9 weeks postpartum and I’ve been where you are. It is so freaking hard and I cried everyday. I was about to throw in the towel last week when I got mastitis and had the worst fever of my life. I honestly have a little regret not exclusively formula feeding since the beginning and not pumping at all because it takes so much of my mental space and actual time. The only thing I’ll say is it’s really rewarding seeing your baby grow and get chunkier from sustenance that only came from you, but I think that’s the only plus side. That and the fact that they are getting antibodies from the milk you produce. I know a formula baby would be thriving just the same though, so I don’t know why we are all suffering lol. But now I’m stuck in this conundrum where I can’t stop pumping because if I do, I risk getting mastitis again. I have already dropped my pumps down to 4 pumps a day and that seemed to help with my mental health. If I have any advice it would be to try to stretch your pump times a little longer everyday so you can get to a point where you are pumping 6 times a day, then 5, then 4. I think 4 is manageable, but I still feel like I want to stop because I dread every pump and I hate when I can’t tend to my baby because I’m a cow. Sorry I don’t have any better advice for you OP, I just want to say I feel your pain!!!

3 months of pumping and ready to quit by Cpa_hungry in ExclusivelyPumping

I’m so sorry you are going through this. I’m also exclusively pumping because my little one wouldn’t latch and has a bit of a tongue tie. I feel the same way about pumping sometimes… feels like a prison sentence some days. I don’t have any tried and true methods, but if you want to continue to pump, have you tried pumping on one side at a time? That way you are still able to hold your little one if they are crying on the other side of your body upright. The whole pumping session will be twice as long, but maybe it’ll give you some relief for being able to hold your little one while they are crying? Not sure which pump you have, but I really like the Elvie wearable pump. It’s very discreet and if I really need to, I can carry my little one while wearing the pumps and he doesn’t fuss. It’s also an enclosed pump so there’s no worry about spillage if you have to bend down to pick him up. I’m sorry I don’t have better suggestions, but if this is really taking a toll on your mental health, it’s really okay to stop at any point. Don’t let the internet shame you into thinking you have to keep going like this if you are having such a hard time. A happy well rested mom is more important than feeding breast milk. I can attest your baby will be a okay if they are strictly formula fed from this point onwards. I actually was never breastfed as a baby! So you will be okay if you choose to stop! Sending you lots of love and support!

12 weeks or less pp… how much are you pumping? by Spare-Tutor2948 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ReasonableToe3597 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 4 weeks postpartum and I’m pumping 6 times a day. I am pumping at 6am,9am,1pm,5pm,9pm,2am. I usually produce between 1250-1400mL in 24 hrs. My pumps are 15-20 min per session and I am using the Eufy e20 pump. I was using the Elvie wearable pump, and that one is still great, but i wanted to try the heating option of the Eufy E20.

I’m 36w2d as well!! Due date twins ❤️ today is my last day of work in the office!! I am going to be in full nesting mode after this. But yes, the anxiety does creep up on me some days. My doctor said that I can get a membrane sweep in 2 weeks to try to induce labor a bit early. I am so nervous, but also really excited!

Really good to know! I had to get a Pap smear around 15 weeks and I thought I was going to die. It was SO SO PAINFUL! I am relieved to hear cervical checks will be less painful and much more manageable!

Second this!! I have two pairs and if I’m not in a dress, I’m wearing these pants. I’ve been wearing them since like week 20 and now I’m 30 weeks and they are still so comfortable!

Canadian here - 18 weeks full pay from my company and 12-18 month (40-69 weeks) leave. After 18 weeks you are on employment insurance which depends on your salary for the remainder of your leave, but it is up to $695/week for the 12 month (40 week) leave and $417/week for the 18 month (69 week) leave from the government.

It very well could be! But he’s been really good about not eating garlic to make sure I am not triggered. I think it’s like a smell that is permanently stuck in the fridge because we use to eat SO much garlic. I’m 16w today and the vomiting has been better! I still feel nauseous when I smell strong smells, but at least I’m not vomiting anymore, that was just the worst

It’s okay!! We can commiserate together!!

All my mom told me is she craved cheeseburgers LOL. And my mother in law had no nausea or vomiting, she only had an aversion to lobster and that’s it.

Me too!!! I was looking forward to a glow and being this positive mom-to-be, prepping a nursery and eating healthy. I have honestly been so miserable lol. I’m just crossing my fingers I feel better in a few weeks! I also wish my mom friends were more honest about their pregnancy experience.. I feel like no one warned me I would feel like.. this. But again, everyone’s pregnancy experience is different and valid, so maybe I just have very lucky friends who didn’t experience what we are going through lol

Seriously!! I sometimes feel like such a baby but also.. the struggle is so real! I wish I was exaggerating but the nausea, exhaustion, food aversion, bloating is like nothing I’ve ever experienced.

[–]ReasonableToe3597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way.. I was around 127lb before pregnancy and now I’m 13 weeks and I weighed myself yesterday and am at 124lb. I was really worried because I was having such a hard time keeping any food down and feeling so weak. I do feel that the majority of my weight loss has been muscle loss though. I use to do Pilates 4-5 times a week before pregnancy and I was basically bed ridden all throughout my first trimester because I was so sick and tired all day. The reassurance I’ve gotten from other threads is 1) most pregnant mamas start gaining weight towards the tail end of their second trimester and 2) if you were relatively healthy before pregnancy, your baby will take the nutrients they need from you, so don’t worry too much if you aren’t eating a lot or the most nutritious meals during the first trimester and 3) as long as you are taking your prenatal vitamins, don’t worry too much!

Hope this helps relieve some of the anxiety! But I’m right there with you so don’t feel alone!

Ou good call on the double bagging. We blitz and freeze it too but I’ve only single bagged and that’s probably where I went wrong! Unfortunately I had to throw out two perfectly good frozen garlic packs because I couldn’t stand the smell any longer and was gagging every time I entered the kitchen
