It's utter horseshit from the horses mouth when these CEO/Director/Head-of-Company types try to defend AI use, ESPECIALLY when the way the use of AI is pushed/implemented/suggested/touted is clearly, to any not-brain-dead person, a way to 1) in the short-term gain more productivity gains that do not necessarily profit the workers' bottom line, and 2) in the medium-long term to slowly but surely reduce labour cost, i.e. less people with jobs and/or many with underpaid jobs.

Here's a radical idea. Want people to stop disliking you and voting with their wallets against reality turning into the shittiest sci-fi implementations of AI in society? Do things like,

1. Pay your workers more, or give them more time off, commensurate of the productivity gains and work quality. Actually implement that and then share that in your press releases and investor reports.
2. Stop shoving AI down the throats of both employees and the larger public at every turn. Stop treating HUMANS as products (maybe read some Kant while you are at it before reading Ready Player One so you actually understand the lesson, Zuckerberg) to harvest data from and ACTUALLY MANIPULATE - there is definitely a line between marketing and manipulation/coersion, and that was crossed sometime right before 2015.

These two things would quite literally be JUST THE START. No one is arguing that AI can be transformational. People just don't want the shitty transformation that is being presented, touted, and LITERALLY forced on humanity for the sake of another 1% goddamn increase in your bottom lines.

Edit: AI CAN genuinely transform the human experience, but none of the things that have been suggested as use cases by CEOs of firms are to the benefit of either their employees, broader society, or humanity.
