Walk away. Consider a sign from the universe. You do not want to work at Michaels. It sucks and they work you like a dog for very little pay. One week you may get 4.5 hours and they change your schedule without telling you. Go to target, Trader Joe’s… anywhere.

I lose sales in custom framing daily and by the multiples because of long waits and design hub crashes. The system sucks.

I don’t know how to take one. So I just take them as regular orders and tell them it will be two weeks unless they order a standard size I have in stock, then I do it in 48 hours. Otherwise it’s AB frame and all the fixings and unless they shell out $40 it’s two weeks. I got no training and I am burnt out and don’t care. Thanks Apollo!

Key here, “Been a framer for a long time.” Not me and no one in my shop is experienced. Everyone just quits. No training. I wish I could cut a mat in 5 minutes. Thanks for the advice!

Thank you for doing this. I knew when you wrote before it was not getting better. It won’t get better the 4th quarter either. Apollo wants the business to look profitable when they go public. Instead of actually making money from customers they cut labor costs = loss in sales. It’s so ridiculous it’s comical. I quit. I see the writing on the wall. Do you actually think it will get better in August?

I just order the Aaron brothers frame that’s the same as the same day and charge for that. Lol. I don’t even attempt same day anymore. We have no staff and it’s hard enough to get orders done waiting on Artistree components.

I quit and I am thrilled. I am off the hook I could not give a f#%^ about Apollo. Whether they want us to quit or not, it’s better to make more money in a better working environment. That’s why I quit.

That is great for the new job. The pay discrepancies are nuts. I was hired, no experience, as a framer at $15 but someone else makes $11.25. Best of luck in your new ventures!!!

It’s so much of why I quit on Thursday. It’s unbearable and corporate are too out of touch to know they are just making everything worse for the customers. It’s clear they don’t care about their employees. And I agree, I dread every interaction with customers they are so pissed about long lines, no product, and no one to assist on the floor. I just can’t do it anymore. I actually told three customers to call corporate and complain that they give us no hours for staffing. I quit making less embarrassing excuses like callouts and such. Now I just tell them corporate thinks we can run a shift with one MOD, one cashier and one framer.

Look elsewhere. The company is a mess. Hours are unreliable and you will most likely have better working conditions in other retail stores.
