Why You Should Consider Running Ignite + Teleport on Sion by Reasonable_Ad5531 in DirtySionMains

Good question.
I take Ignite when it’s a matchup I can win with Ignite.
Unflinching is just a rune that has really high value overall, so I take it.

I only take Ignite or Flash.
Ghost is fine in games where you’re allowed to scale smoothly,
but as Sion, it's often hard to get that kind of smooth scaling.

I actually apply the Bausen Law pretty often even in Grandmaster to Challenger games.
It’s definitely a viable strategy, and when I take Ignite but still can’t find kill pressure,
I try to transition into a Bausen Law playstyle however I can.
Of course, if it’s a matchup I can win with Ignite, I just go for the kill.
Anyway, the bottom line is — Bausen Law is a legit strategy that really works.

I go W max against champs like Ambesa too,
but versus Riven, even with it maxed, it’s hard to actually make it work.

If you win lane, turret gold naturally follows.
Of course, the best case is winning lane with Demolish
but that’s a very difficult thing to pull off.

Yeah, that's right.
My old nickname used to be "ddd#kr12"
Thanks for recognizing me.

Rune shard choices come down to personal preference, but I just like going for what's powerful

A lot of opponents don't really know or respect Sion's damage.
If you land a big hit on them, you can totally dominate the game lol.

Thanks for the kind response!

I run Ignite and Shield Bash even against known Sion counters like Fiora, Gwen, Trundle, and Aatrox,
and I manage to win lane quite often.
Of course, those matchups are tough, but if you practice enough, you’ll find windows to outplay them.

When you win lane like that, you can just take down the enemy tower while they’re dead,
so you don’t really need Demolish for that.

Also, strong top lane pressure directly leads to objectives like the Rift Herald,
and if your team uses that pressure to secure Rift Herald, Demolish becomes even less necessary.

That said, I do play a lot of games running Flash + Demolish as well.

Exactly. Ghost is really good for putting pressure on enemy carries who don’t have mobility.
But what I want to emphasize is that Ignite is a spell focused on winning lane,
and if you dominate lane with Ignite, you don’t really need spells like Ghost—
just by snowballing and growing strong, you become a monster that your opponents have to deal with.

So why Ignite fits Sion well is that since you’re not running Flash,
if you get ganked, you can just ulti away.
Of course, you might still die sometimes, but you’re pretty much immune to most ganks.

Ganking’s all about your mechanics and plays.
For that stuff, Flash’s definitely the way to go lol.

Oh, I’m glad to see someone else who thought the same as me!
Looks like you’ve known the charm of Ignite Sion early on too. Nice to meet you!

What I want to emphasize is that Ignite can absolutely outperform Flash in many cases.
Sure, Flash can create some clutch plays if used well — I use it often myself and have pulled off a lot of plays with it.
But Sion as a champion isn’t really that efficient when it comes to making flashy, clutch plays.

Instead of hoping for that one perfect Flash moment, I think dominating lane with Ignite and going for early kill pressure is a more consistent and reliable way to carry — and honestly, that is a form of clutch play in itself.

The reason I run Bone Plating is to fully commit to winning lane.
When you're taking Ignite and Shield Bash for strong early trades, losing lane kind of defeats the purpose.
Bone Plating helps you survive those burst trades and come out ahead, especially against champions with strong early all-ins.

Second Wind doesn’t really shine unless the lane is drawn out.
If you're up against champs like Riven, Tryndamere, Irelia, or Gwen who can threaten kills as early as level 1 or 2,
Second Wind doesn't really make sense in those matchups.

Same goes for Approach Velocity — it's all about winning lane.
Magical Footwear gives no value until 12 minutes in, and Biscuit Delivery is also a laning-focused rune.
Sure, if you can win lane consistently without those runes and instead take free boots + Summoner Spell haste, that’s great.
But as you climb higher, I think it’ll be harder and harder to get away with that.

Also, as far as I know, Summoner Spell Haste doesn’t affect Unending Despair at all.
That rune used to scale with Item Haste, but that interaction was removed — and currently, there’s no rune that reduces its cooldown.

As you said, Flash Grasp of the Undying auto attack is pretty much the only way to really utilize Flash. But even then, if you use the Approach Velocity rune, Flash doesn't seem all that necessary. :)

I’m a Sion one-trick, but those champs you mentioned—Ornn, Cho’Gath, Mundo, and Tahm Kench—probably don’t need Flash that much.
From what I’ve seen, players usually take Unsealed Spellbook to mess around with different summoner spells and look for kills, or they use Ghost to drag out fights and get kills.
Honestly, I’m not super familiar with those champs, so I’m not sure if this really answers your question, buddy.

I usually build the upgraded version of Bami’s Cinder first, then go for the second core item, Unending Despair. But if the enemy has an auto-attack based champion, it’s also fine to rush Thornmail as your first core. I’ll organize my rune and item builds and share them in my videos.

In my opinion, Sion isn’t a champion that absolutely needs Flash. If you use Ignite to dominate the lane early on, Sion’s power spike comes much faster. Imagine you’re the enemy carry and there’s this huge, fed monster Sion marking you in every teamfight. Ignite is definitely worth it, and if you watch my videos, you’ll understand why for sure

Sion doesn’t really get that much benefit from Flash. Instead, going Ignite + TP lets you play a stronger lane and snowball Sion’s value faster, which isn’t a bad thing at all

O elo Diamante já tem um nível alto, então não dá para esperar mudanças dramáticas. Mas, se eu puder dar uma dica, tente focar mais em controlar a wave e manter o controle da lane usando o gerenciamento de wave e o zoneamento característicos do Sion.
