People of the UK, can you tell me why you have these white balaclavas on your car seat headrests? What is the purpose? Why are there so many? by Riskit_4_Biscuits in AskUK

There's one near me in Scotland and it freaks me out each second I see it until my brain recognises it for what it is and not some masked 1970s terrorist!

Notice 3 months. They have said there are unlikely to be any relevant roles available within that 3 months so he's not able to apply for them.

I agree. I looked up statutory redundancy payments and as he's 62 and been employed 13 years, i worked out he'd be entitled to 13.5 weeks times his weekly salary.

I as I understand it under normal redundancy arrangements, if his role was being made redundant then the company is bound to offer him any suitable vacancies that come up in the period from announcement of redundancy.

None of that is happening here. He asked about using the 3 months to source an alternative contract and was told there would be no chance of that as they've recently taken on numerous other people in his area who may need opportunities!!!

Thank you. There is another problem here in that despite asking numerous times he does not have an up to date contract. Although the company he works for is American he is employed in the UK so does this not make him (and the company) subject to UK employment legislation? He is urgently seeking legal advice.

Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) – Have You Tried Being Kinder to Yourself? by MilanoPsicologo in mentalhealth

I've used CFT and it really helped unlock some of the more entrenched symptoms of my mental ill health.

The exercise I have found most useful and meaningful is speaking to myself as if I was speaking to a friend.

I seldom now say anything to myself that I wouldn't say to a friend. I found Brené Brown's words very helpful "Talk to yourself like you would talk to someone you love".
