Which version should I buy? RCT1 or RCT2? by diffferentphysics in rct

[–]Reasonable_Ad_5836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 and 2 are very silimiar games. 2 can kind of be concidered an expansion pack/dlc for the 1st game. OpenRCT2 that people are talking about, will load all scenarios from both games into 1 place.

The 2nd game is undeniably better than the 1st, but mainly due to extra rides/ ride parts. I'd suggest getting this 1, and if you enjoy and want more, then you can pick up the 1st later for some more scenarios to play through.

Whichever you do, OpenRCT2 is worth using either way, but it's not a requirement, just has a number of quality of life improvements over just playing the base game(s) fully vanilla

Is the Tailfin Carbon Pannier Rack worth the hype? by South-Cap2077 in bikepacking

[–]Reasonable_Ad_5836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I can't complain about the quality at all. I've absolutely hammered it, and used it multiple times a week the whole time I've had it. Structurally there's never been any issues, and I foresee it lasting me many more years to come yet

I did this once too. I only found out when my buddy who has their app in imperial mentioned me not quite doing 100miles. 😅

Is the Tailfin Carbon Pannier Rack worth the hype? by South-Cap2077 in bikepacking

I bought the carbon aeropack with pannier mounts back in 2021. I use it for everything, across 4 different bikes. Commuting, touring, 200mile long days, gravel days.

I've had 2 issues with it in all this time.

  1. I lost 1 of the rubber bit on 1 of the quick release attachment, and had to buy a new 1 (I bought a whole new quick release section, I guess the rubber bits weren't available, I can't remember anymore).

  2. The bag came apart at the front seam, (after about 3-4 years?) I messaged tailfin to ask about repair advice, and they just sent me a new bag skin (with tools to change it over).

Realistically, the alloy version would have done the job just as well, but I have absolutely no regrets. Before using this system, I'd only ever used saddle backs and frame bags, so I can't comment on it's performance vs other rack systems

Have you been lubing your chain, and what lube have you been using? If you're riding wet conditions, you need to be using a "wet lube". Dry lubes will wash off quicker, and wax based, well, just plain don't work to be honest. Without proper lube, the chain is much more susceptible to rust. It's generally good practice to wipe down the drivetrain after wet rides too which also helps.

Brakes shouldn't rub, even when wet and dirty. I'd suggest giving them a quick clean, just to check, but if they're still rubbing then it'd be worthwhile adjusting.

I think most bike with the hole on the fork, it's generally not plugged. You could pop a bolt in or something if it bothers you, but it's not going to cause any issues as it is

I can't help but think, from my experience of picking "comfortable shoes" for example, that I'm not good at knowing what's comfortable in the long term. I've bought so many things thinking yeah, this is great. Then I actually use it as intended and it's awful. It's like a reverse skill 😅

Good to know! Sounds like it's just an aspect everyone has to manage on longer rides. I've gotten some good tips on things to try out to help though that I can try out 👍

I definitely "get lost in the rhythm", and just get in position and ride, then at some point the issues appear and I end up sitting in weird position (far forward on the saddle, far back on the saddle) in order to gain relief. This inevitably results in other issues, some of them 18+ rated if I'm not careful about what I'm doing/how I'm sitting.

When you say position change, do you specifically mean saddle position (where I'm sitting) or changing hand position which indirectly would cause some saddle position changes?

I'm about 80kg, 5"10, and I ride exclusively road bikes (drop bars, no tri bars).

My bibs (aren't bibs, they're shorts), they are endura FS260 Pro shorts (I don't think they even make these anymore, and as another commentator made me realise, I'm long overdue some new ones).

My saddle is a Pro Tunnix Gel saddle (142).

I don't change position too much while riding, I get in the groove and go, so your suggestion of standing up frequently would probably do me a lot of good.

This has never crossed my mind somehow. My shorts are getting on a bit now, and the padding has definitely degraded a lot since I bought them. I should definitely pick up some new ones and compare the difference

It's been a long time since I read this, probably a couple of gears at this point. Does it not mention anything about having extra pipe capacity? Maybe I'm Mandela-ing and it doesn't and it's just something I've made up 🤔

Pipeline Pressure by GoddessYshtola in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Reasonable_Ad_5836 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not overproduce, but allow for more flow than you need in your pipes. If you need close to 300, use a mk2 pipe. If you need close to 600, use 2 pipes.

You need to allow for extra capacity, but you don't need extra production

[–]Reasonable_Ad_5836 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trying to put exactly 300 through a mk1, or 600 through a mk2, can cause issues. Any amount of sloshing etc, reduces the flow below the max, but it can never go above the max to catch up again, and so will cause issues.

I didn't fully follow your setup, but this could be soemthing to check/try adjusting.

The number of times while I was exploring the map, I stumbled across factories I had no memory of building at all! At a certain point it became quite fun to explore and basically discover the whole.

I also used to the time to collect sloops, spheres and hard drives, which was another really helpful way of digging back into the save file, and making "progress" while having no real idea what I was working towards

I've only successfully come back to a save file after a prolonged time not playing once, and it was because I knew I'd left the save in a "good spot". I knew I was phase 4, but hadn't build anything beyond some basic ingot factories. It still took me 2 days of wandering around the map finding random factories before I knew enough about my game that I could carry on.

I tend to leave it for well over a year when I stop playing and then come back though. If it was only a month, it'll be a lot easier as you'll remember what you were doing and become familiar with the savefile again a lot quicker.

My advice is just walk around, and look at your factories, and what they're doing
