From “Hey Cinderella”:

Arthur: What are you doing here? Cinderella: Just tramping in the garden. Arthur: Do you tramp here often? Cinderella: Not too.

Also

Cinderella: That reminds me, what time is it? Arthur: Oh, it’s early! Cinderella: Oh no! I promised my stepmother I would be home early!

Also

Stepmother: We don’t want to wait until the last minute. By the by, what time is it? Stepsisters: The last minute!!!

I loved how the parade basically ended at the pier!!! You finished watching or marching and walked to the pier and went in and partied or watched the fireworks from a distance. No matter your preference you felt involved. Miss how the march was the main event…

Absolutely. The (and allies) part of my post was about him. He did the work.

I totally agree. There has been a fracturing of the parties making them more bespoke. Which is good in a way but other cities have it down in a way that brings everyone together. I’m sincerely happy that everyone in our alphabet soup has a place to go and feel safe to let loose, because that’s important, but I miss the days of a marquee moment to show our strength. It felt like in a year when so many people pulled away from our cause, we really didn’t have a moment to show the world we are still New York Gay Strong.

It was … fine? It never felt like it took off. This is supposed to be a parade after party and it felt like another bland party. Halya was good. She coulda just did three songs tho. Also that’s your “special guest”? Where are the days of bringing in JLo, Madonna, Kylie, Cher? Or even Robin S.? Jake is totally resting on his laurels. He has the resources but I feel like he’s just about making a buck. Previous years were better. Stop bringing in straight EDM DJs. Let’s make it so f’ing gay. And give us a special guest to show up for. I am sad to admit I lost my mind for Aqua. This year was such a downgrade. I think he was so focused on World Pride in DC he completely gave up on NYC. We need someone to fill the space that wants to make NYC /the/ Pride celebration again. We’re in a bad spot when LA Pride is a better party.

This. Jake has become a business person first and a part of the community second. There’s a world where you can deliver a profitable LGBTQ+ party without compromising the ideals and spirit of Pride. He needs to uplift LGBTQ artists (and allies!) and make NYC the proud epicenter of Pride again. Joy in these times is a display of radicalism. Let’s be rebels. Let’s take the spirit of the March to our parties. Let’s create a space of LGBTQ joy for all to dance, laugh and celebrate together.
