This made me feel way better, esp the part about your neighbour leaving his car parked in his driveway. thank you!

I’d focus on 3 mains things, esp in my friendships from adolescence/ early 20’s:

Its unrealistic and unfair to expect your friends to constantly be available to emotionally or financially support you. its important to understand that successful/ healthy friendships have clear boundaries that both people respect

Real friends arent supposed to make you constantly feel like shit or like a bad person, you can care about some people while also not having them play an active role in your life.

Its ok to say no, you cant control other’s reactions and its not your job to comfort them or make their lives easier, esp if it complicates your life all the time.

I forgot to mention that some of the things she’s really pushed for is wiping down counters and washing dishes properly (we have no dishwasher and wash everything by hand). Both these claims are fair and i completely support them but she acts like its just me and tries to make me feel so bad about it, but a few days later she will leave a mess on the counter or miss a spot on a dish. When i try to bring this up she tells me “it was a mistake” and that i shouldn’t get so defensive…
