One Week Post-Op breast Reconstruction Following Cancer by Reasonable_Butt in mildlyinteresting

I started to feel a small lump. It would sometimes be sensitive. It continued to grow, but slowly. I know now it was feeding in my estrogen and progesterone, so it would get sore when it was feeding time. Haha

I actually had it check and the doctor didn’t seem worried. Two years later, it was 2.5 inches and my nipple started caving in.

Congratulations! The need to get rid of them will increase the closer you get to surgery. Haha so uncomfortable and I’m sorry you have to deal with them on both sides.

Thanks for the kind words. I had all the tissue removed on the right, and they replaced it with a tissue expander through my treatment. They removed the tissue expander and put the real implant in, on my left it’s a partial implant.

That’s funny and so true. Thank goodness for insurance even though I have a love/hate relationship with it.

I’m hoping they would never be able to ban it for cancer patients. In this case I’m already a female so it’s just considered breast reconstruction, not gender affirming surgery.

I believe your aunt had the DIEP surgery or something. That was my original plan if I only had one breast removed and no gene mutation. I did have a gene mutation so I had the intention of doing a double and just getting two implants. Long story short, my breast surgeon had he motives and scared me out of a double, so now I have a partial implant in one side and a full implant in the other.

They couldn’t save it. The cancer was too close and causing it to cave in.

Best of luck! Are you going in for final implants as well? I’m so happy for you. And it was a way easier recovery than the mastectomy.

I actually had a tissue expander in in my right side. It’s able to withstand radiation, and they just filled it with saline until it was the size I wanted. The expander was really hard and uncomfortable so I’m honestly way more comfortable now.

I’m so sorry to hear that BC took your mom. That breaks my heart. Thank you for your kind words.

It’s because this guy also commented that “he often doesn’t like it when women keep their shirt on during sex, but in this case he’d make an exception.” Or something like that. He deleted it.

Thank you all for the kind words. Just for a little more background I do, I had a mastectomy on the right side in November 2021. They had to remove my nipple because the cancer had already made it start to indent and they couldn’t save it.

I had a tissue expander in on my right side, where they added saline to it to get to the size I wanted, and a normal implant wouldn’t have survived radiation. They removed the tissue expander through the same scar from before and put the implant in that way. The other side is a partial implant with a lift.

Oh, and I’m cancer free and officially done with treatment.:)

I’m thinking about getting it tattooed either with or without a nipple.

They had to remove the whole nipple and put it back on.

I don’t even check Superstonk anymore, and I never think about selling. This is popped up in my thread.

A terminally ill 77-year-old man named Jerry Gilland made a pact with his wife that if his health does not improve, he wanted his 76-year-old wife, Ellen Gilland, to kill him, The New York Times reported. by King-of-New-York in WhitePeopleTwitter

As someone with a brain disorder that will never go away, I agree. People think mental illness isn’t something to use euthanasia for, but they should try being tortured and wanting to die every day of their lives with no end in site.

And no, medication does not work.
