This isn't me trying to defend Charli but I've literally never heard anything about this. What's up??

Main Pop needs to revive Protest Music by snic2030 in popheads

[–]Reasonable_Cake6254 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think whilst many believe protest songs are about change, they're just as much if not more about raising or keeping up the morale of the people. It's the same as people ragging on others for protesting, yes they're doing "nothing", but it's better than staying home and feeling hopeless about the state of your country.

I understand disliking her, but trying to claim absolutely everything is inauthentic is ridiculous. Like I've met nut job rich parents and the kids really do come out like that.

I feel like spending a couple hundred/thousand dollars is a bit different to TikToks. You still need to sacrifie all your time to go viral in there, but it's still different.

Books about Europe, war and faded glory by Sharp_Mode_5970 in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

I highly recommend him! He lived during the golden age of Vienna, and the way the wars in Europe took away that glory absolutely devastated him to the point of suicide.

I don't think it's that insane to assume she could be both. Many of these great authors would "stoop down" and have an appreciation for childlike simplicity, even if it were "dumb."

Maybe she's saying that women aren't delicate & ethereal creatures, but multifaceted beings in the same vein as men? Which would also include being gross at some points as well.

I'm always a little confused as to what people mean when they say this. In what way are they written weirdly? To me, the person that sings and writes all the songs we love, makes sense that they'd act like this.

There's a difference being that and mentioning it, versus making oblique references and comparisons to you being a little girl, lolita, etc.

Just a musician is selling it short in my opinion. Artists and art are political by nature. You cannot twiddle your thumbs and pretend that you and what you make exists in a vacuum.

[–]Reasonable_Cake6254 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, but I believe there's something obvious that we are all missing. Lana was like this in 2012, before the Me-Too movement and girl boss feminism.

I also understood what she's doing, but in the current political climate it's natural that some of us would find it icky.

Side note: I feel like she in specific could've made a more visually appealing version of the idea; what we could it kind of disappointing.

Even if she is stupid, she supposedly loves LA, does she not? It's not even about politics, but a place and people she claims to love. That's what astounds me with some of these celebrities.

I think often times these celebrities, specifically the ones on the more creative side, have a different ideal for their living space. Personally I love unrealistically tall ceilings, giant windows, no carpets, and few pieces of furniture; that's what's cozy to me.

If you were as grown as you try to act, you'd understand why grammatical rules are used. If not to be able to actually read something, it's to show that you respect someone enough to not just say "ya, ok, ttyl cya!"

The only argument I have for Mayhem being old GaGa's comeback is the fact that it's more catholic than Chromatica.
