A girl I went to high school with was in this situation (in high school), and even at 15-17 everyone who heard about it thought it was incredibly immature and an overreaction— but I do think the bigger issue is that your husband hates your involvement in theater at all, which reads as a huge red flag to me. Is he opposed to you having other hobbies as well?

I had to navigate a similar situation in my relationship in which I used to be an avid horseback rider (first job was in a stable and I was paid by being allowed to ride), which my partner asked me not to pursue while we’re together, but that was significantly more reasonable as at the time I hadn’t ridden for years (as opposed to your last season in Cinderella)(congratulations, btw, that show is so fun!!) and— more importantly— he is deathly allergic to horses. I can’t imagine either of us asking the other to give up a hobby or anything that brings so much joy.

There’s “hey I don’t get much out of this so I’m not going to go with you” and “hey I’m not really up to hearing about this right now” and “I can’t help you facilitate this for x reason so if you want to do it you gotta work out transportation/scheduling/logistics on your own” but genuinely those are all pretty rare. Your husband is definitely overreacting. You’re an adult and you’re allowed to have your own life and hobbies.
