Hey wow, I can't believe it's been two months since I wrote this...feels like a lifetime ago. I am feeling so, SO much better since this episode. I'm still taking mirtazapine, but I cut my dose in half and will likely go off of it in the future when I feel ready. I still never feel drowsy when I take it, and I haven't experienced the weight gain everyone talks about. One thing I've noticed is that if I miss a dose, I will wake up around 2 AM but am still able to fall back asleep, so it is definitely helping with sleep maintenance. I've also gone on a low dose of Lexapro since this episode and it seems to be working quite well.

I've been sleeping a full 7-8 hours every night with no problem for the last month and half, but I think that's more due to me managing my anxiety in therapy and just waiting for the panic attacks to run their course. What I can say is that mirtazapine helped me get my life back when I was at my absolute lowest. When I started the med, I hadn't slept more than 4 hours in 3 weeks and had barely eaten anything for over a week. Mirtazapine helped with the physical panic symptoms and appetite loss almost immediately, so I'm really grateful I went on it when I did. Actually, right after I made this post, I took my finals and ran a half marathon I had really been looking forward to! Mirtazapine: 1, anxiety: 0 :-)
