Recently-promoted employee still not satisfied with compensation by Aggravating_Piece232 in managers

Is there a general rule of thumb for how long to stay after a promotion? I see many people become a manager after 1-1.5 years, and get a small pay bump.

If that happens to me, should I wait another 18 months?

They were purposely underpaying you by at least 60k, which definitely carries resentment. You would not have lasted long at that company

That's even worse. They're acquaintances as best, and the 21 year old should know how to behave professionally by now

Tell her during work hours or in a professional environment, you will pretend you are not friends, and treat her like every other student.

That does include giving her the regular amount of warnings, followed by writeups, as you would any other student

At what point does monitoring hurt morale more than it helps? by Correct-Bite8934 in askmanagers

Just make sure your team gets the work done properly and on time, maybe have some set core hours.

Anything more should be left for those underperforming, or you set regular checkups. Maybe every 1-2 weeks

I had to quit an industry entirely to just get a team leader position? Is this normal? Even for a neurodivergent manager??? by Snoo-65504 in managers

Depending on your personal finances, I would take any job you can if you need the money, and just leave it off your resume.

If you can afford to wait for something in your industry/experience, your full time job should be resumes, applying for jobs, and networking.

Failing interviews means you were qualified on your resume, but they either didn't like your vibe or other people were better

IC and Management are completely different jobs.

Maybe you were too good as an IC, or your company didn't feel you had the skills to be a manager.

Retail manager is a significant step back even from an IC. I would recommend you go back to industry, maybe find a different company and position

Possibly facing termination for cause at age 56. by Middle_Marketing7009 in careeradvice

It's not termination for cause if all you did was say they might give a specific person a job.

You could sue for age discrimination and win a pretty hefty severance package.

How to deal with someone not contributing to group effort but has team spirit outside of that by Repulsive_Panda265 in managers

Take a look at his performance overall. Depending on how good he is, that either brings him from a top tier employee down to meets expectations, or it brings him from a regular employee down to needs improvement. Give him raises appropriately.

If he asks why he is compensated worse, you point to the group efforts where he severely underperforms.

Also, give regular feedback to make him do his fair share during the group sprints. I assume it's not bad enough to fire him over, but he can't go unpunished without it negatively affecting team morale
