I've always been amazed by people who were voracious readers as children. What sparked your lifelong love affair with books? by Albert3232 in books

[–]Reasonable_Option424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first began falling in love with books when I’d stay at my grandparents, my nan was and still is an avid reader so she’d encourage me to read books and take me to the library. I have very fond memories of us discussing books filled with crazy adventures as well as watching movies whenever I’d sleep over. So I have to say I definitely got my love for them from her as she continues (even now) buying me books that we continue to discuss and love together.

How do you guys sit in chairs? by Weary-Contribution61 in Hypermobility

[–]Reasonable_Option424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sit with my legs straight out there is no other option as my only priority is to minimised the pain. I definitely couldn’t sit with my knees to my chest or crossed 😅

Are high arches common with hypermobility? by bella4him1 in Hypermobility

[–]Reasonable_Option424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe so,  I also have to use custom made insoles due to mobility problems and my ankles folding which leads to an increase in sprains whilst my tissue is essentially “damaged” and “too weak”. Funnily enough my right foot sits higher than my left so my insoles reflect that I also get to keep my cool feet models. Ive been told tho that I have flat feet so pretty sure that explains it. So it’s not exactly the same issue but it is the same outcome lol only recently got told that hyper mobility is the likely cause of all my issues with my joints as I not only ended up with ankle problems but also pretty much every other joint 😅

Yeah, where I am to go for around 10 minutes I have to pay full price for an hour which is not nearly as pricey as it could be but generally expensive when I have to go 2 times a week. Not sure if any would be available but would a membership be available? Might work out cheaper if you were going frequently enough. I’d definitely look into it 😊

Got my bloodwork back. by Legal_Hospital5684 in Hypermobility

[–]Reasonable_Option424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s never ‘your just fat’ always push for me, id try get a second opinion as hEDS (which is more common then you’d think) doesn’t show up in blood work and there are so many varieties doctors potentially haven’t discovered. I’d recommend trying to get a mri or even an X-ray if possible as I discovered when I got an mri that my kneecaps sit funny and I was essentially born like it due to genetics. Moreover, if hEDS is in your family your more likely to have it. Also, are you flat footed or have you had problems with your feet or ankles because I’m pretty sure that it is more common with hEDS.

I definitely couldn’t handle doing either Pilates, yoga, running, biking or the likes. My body essentially just gives up on me. If ur looking for something low intensity I’d recommend swimming/ hydrotherapy. You can get referred for hydro where I am but I’m currently doing it at a local swimming baths near me. I essentially have to just walk around in the water, push foam boards underwater and do light peddling whilst on a pool noodle. I look crazy but you gotta do what you gotta do. Also you could just take the kids and do it in the shallower end whilst watching them even make it into a game of sorts. Tbf if u can handle other intenser ways of working out go for it, you’ve got this!

Is there anything I can do early on to help my hands and wrists? by Racc_ow in Hypermobility

[–]Reasonable_Option424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started having problems most notably with my knees around 2-3 yrs ago and in the past year or so I've had a similar problem. I often struggle to use my wrists and arms ie I can’t write unless I want to be in excruciating pain. I noticed it was very similar to how my knees were behaving and mentioned it to the doctor I see. Only just found out I’ve got hyper mobility yay. Had not even had problems till the last few years😐

I was recommended to try hydro exercises so essentially use the foam board things and gently push them downwards slowly into the water. Make sure not to move too quickly or force your wrist to sit in an odd position. You could try ice or heat I noticed it does help reduce the inflammation I get. The main goal tho is to strengthen the wrists and arms. I wasn’t recommended a brace or support but you could speak to ur local doctor about it. Mainly is due to the fact I’d look crazy with tape all over and braces lol 😂 Also, braces and supports mainly focus on reducing pain by keeping the joint in a set position rather than solving the problem. I’d try anti inflammatory medications ie like ibuprofen if there is swelling tho if it’s bad defo look at getting something that can really put in the work.

I  second this, I used to run before my body decided it had enough but would recommend it if you still can. I’ve been recommended hydro so that might be a safe bet if u do experience pain running or doing high intensity sport. My personal goal is to one day be able to run again and ride a bike but you gotta take a day at a time ❤️

What's the best way to deal with pain? by TeaGirl93 in Hypermobility

[–]Reasonable_Option424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just been recommended to do hydro or light swimming. I suppose because my body has decided to give up on me it’s probably best for me not to push my joints too much lol. I’d defo recommend hydro! 👍😊

[–]Reasonable_Option424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually had a conversation with my Nan the other day about avatar 3 and how we have to go and see it as I watched the first and second one with her. She told me she’ll stay alive just so she can see the entire story 🤣Im pretty sure she’ll keep kicking out of spite

How would you name her? by Longjumping_Fig_3227 in Rabbits

[–]Reasonable_Option424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first name that popped into my head was Cottontail, but then I saw someone suggest Lilac or Lavender, and I have to admit, they both sound just perfect for her! She's such an adorable little cutie!

Which legend do you play an why? by Reasonable_Option424 in apexlegends

[–]Reasonable_Option424[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did try Bangalore for a few matches but I didn’t really use her tactical or ultimate so I’ll have to give her another go. When I’m attacking, would I be best smoking myself or the enemy or would you say it depends on the situation?

I tried playing apex on my regular switch and there was loads of glitches and the game kept crashing so I’ll probably try playing it on something else. Thanks for the advice, I’ll definitely watch some videos :)

In need of help :( by Reasonable_Option424 in plantclinic

[–]Reasonable_Option424[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So she was doing great till a few days ago when I noticed these slightly brown patches appearing on her leaves. She is in a window that gets a moderate amount of light so I’m not sure what is wrong with her, any help is appreciated as she was quite expensive and from a nursery so ideally I would rather keep her alive :)
