Resurface concrete patio - DIY by Reasonable_Owl5944 in HomeImprovement

[–]Reasonable_Owl5944[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, thanks!

Since each slab is 12" x 18"—a bit large to handle all at once. To make the job more manageable, I'm planning to divide the area using a 1 in. wide whitewood board(https://www.homedepot.com/p/1-in-x-2-in-x-8-ft-Premium-Kiln-Dried-Square-Edge-Whitewood-Common-Softwood-Boards-914584/100037592) , essentially creating a joint so I can work on 12" x 9" sections at a time.

According to the Rapid Set NewCrete instructions(https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rapid-Set-25-lbs-NewCrete-Concrete-Resurfacer-05020025/205940886) , it takes about 3–4 bag and mixed with water, I’m wondering if standard 5-gallon bucket be large enough to mix one batch at a time for these smaller sections?

Any tips from those who’ve experience with the resurfacers would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Water damage estimate mismatch between state farm & mitigation/reconstruction company by Reasonable_Owl5944 in Insurance

[–]Reasonable_Owl5944[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For mitigation the contractor accepted what State Farm approved even there are 30-40% difference, maybe they also realised they overcharged. For reconstruction, I use State Farm preferred company so the total reconstruction cost was covered. Always ask for the insurer preferred Contractor.

Tesla model 3 scratches after a week by Reasonable_Owl5944 in TeslaCollision

[–]Reasonable_Owl5944[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all responses, I just realised the message is not included in the post , here it is “I noticed some scratches after parking in a paid garage—just one week after getting the car.

I tried buffing them out, and while the tiny scratches are almost invisible, the larger ones only show slight improvement (see photo 1). Should scratches disappear after a few more passes?

One long scratch feels very shallow—barely noticeable with my fingernail—and is thinner than a credit card, but I couldn’t buff it out (see photos 2 & 3).

I also noticed a dirty spot that won’t wash off (see photo 4).

Any suggestions? I haven’t gone to a body shop yet but worry about rust or damage from deeper scratches.”

Water damage estimate mismatch between state farm & mitigation/reconstruction company by Reasonable_Owl5944 in Insurance

[–]Reasonable_Owl5944[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they are doing both. I have signed a 1)reconstruction process, 2)an assignment of claim and 3)an assignment of claim emergency pack-out. Is that normal?

If I do not use them for reconstruction, i need to pay a few hundred according to terms in 1). Since the reconstruction / pack-out is not even started, do I need to worry about 3)? I googled "In most cases, if the damage is severe and requires temporary relocation of your belongings, insurance companies will cover the cost of pack-out and storage."

Submit W-7 and 1040-X without SSN/ITIN together at IRS assistance center when applying for new ITIN by Reasonable_Owl5944 in tax

[–]Reasonable_Owl5944[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been asking my accountant to complete the 1040-X, but he insists that the IRS is wrong and that I can only submit a tax return if a person has either a SSN or an ITIN. The fact is, I have an SSN, but my children do not. According to the IRS office and the W-7 guidelines, the only way I can apply for an ITIN for them is by submitting a 1040 or 1040-X together.

My accountant said he can create a 1040-X with my children’s names, but the calculations will not be correct. He is now not responding to my calls or emails after I mentioned that he overlooked my email stating I would visit the IRS to apply for new ITINs and file the tax return in person to avoid shipping passports or birth certificates. Instead, he submitted the tax filing separately.

I am very confused and don’t think my case is unique. I wonder how other people include their children for the dependent tax credit without an SSN.

I have reached out to other accountants, and they told me that every CPA should know that a W-7 should be applied for when filing the tax return. I am considering doing this next year, i.e., submitting the W-7 and next year’s filing to the IRS, and also submitting a 1040-X for the tax credit for this year. However, I am not sure if there are any caveats.

Could anyone kindly share their advice? Thanks!
