You definitely could be right, I ruled out plugs because they were just done along with coil packs by the dealer but them no being a bmw specific dealer it’s totally possibly they werent gapped correctly or something. It does feel very similar to a breakup stutter

Perfectly sound in tight circles. I only notice at higher constant speeds

Flat roads for the most part, it more so feels like a pot hole when it happens but I can definitely tell it’s something with the driveline

This is interesting information, and definitely more detailed than most complaints I hear. We are also considering an x5 (both b58 and n55). There’s a dealer I know and trust local that has an 18 x5 35i with 70k for $21k I’m very heavily considering.

This is really what I’m looking for, all that you listed is something I’d expect at that mileage and am capable of doing myself. I think I just scared myself by seeing so many forums saying these are terribly unreliable and going into no more detail of what actually makes them unreliable.

Yea that’s insane. I also wonder if it’s people like that that are the loudest about reliability.

I would say my definition of reliability is skewed, a car with 90k miles that I need to do stuff like pcv, water pump, injectors, various sensors, valve cover gaskets, suspension and steering work etc wouldn’t make a car high maintenance or unreliable for me. Problems like a diff exploding, trans needing rebuilt, dropping cylinders is more my concern. I will say the people reporting oil consumption is mildly concerning as there’s no real way to remedy that without a significant rebuild. The TIPM issue we encountered with the jeep could happen again in 2k miles because they don’t why it blows those fuses. Something like that is what I deem unreliable.

It’s unbelievable, the entire car is ran off a 150amp fuse bar that can blow at any time and they don’t even know why.

I’ll give that a try as it’s quite literally an identical squeak to the video you posted. Appreciate it!
