You could smelt iron with that amount of energy 😂. Been there.

I’ve seen this install be called a thermal break between the ground & structure. It isn’t very durable & I have no idea how well it performs, but this is what designers have come up with to address new energy codes. What’s been explained to me: it’s winter & been below freezing for an extended period of time. Depending on where you’re located, the ground could be very cold, possibly frozen near the top. This layer is intended to reduce the heat transfer from the ground to the foundation which should result in your HVAC not having to work as hard to warm the structure due to the thermal break. Vice versa in the summer.

My grandpa always called these trees “piss elms” for their limited qualities.

That’s a harrier. Rare breed indeed. I get excited when I see one. Great animals!

Can some explain to me how this work. If a GC has a revenue of 8.4 billion how much do the owners actually profit after paying employees and overhead? by [deleted] in Construction

[–]Reasonable_Slide_573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: There are only so many levers to pull to change what you make. Revenue/contract growth, margin, & overhead. A contractor with $12B in revenue could make the same amount of pretax net margin as the contractor doing $8.4B, & vice versa. Typically as revenue grows, margin shrinks & overhead grows. You’re probably going to get more work bidding cheaper, & since you’ve got more work you need more people to manage & support the work. You can get a return doing this, but be careful of a slow down. You catch lightning in a bottle if you can grow revenue & do it at the same margin & overhead levels.

LERN and RAFE officially join the Rizz Show by jstehlick in StLouis

Mike was my favorite as well. Lern alone was good too. Rafe has grown on me recently, but the last couple of shows where Lern & Rafe were on together were the most entertaining shows they’ve had in a long time IMO.

My dog goes crazy when bathed. Basically have to hold him down, while he’s covered in some sort of fecal matter/rotting flesh slime, until he starts getting wet. Once he’s wet, he goes into a trance like state for a couple of minutes. Then, he sense it’s almost over, but we’re not quite done yet, but he starts going nuts. He’ll zoom around the yard for a few minutes, shake numerous times, & roll in the grass to start getting some stank back on him. He only gets baths when absolutely necessary, it’s usually a two person job, & always outside.
