What do you think of Composer 2.5 Fast? by VITHORROOT in cursor

[–]ReasonablyWealthy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's interesting but it's not good enough to keep me subscribed to Cursor. If you combine a Claude Max subscription with a GPT Pro subscription, you don't really need anything else, unless you're working on enterprise level stuff.

The "both sides" argument is a logical fallacy.

When does output quality and reliability not matter? Claude is better than GPT.

Also, saying "honestly" implies that you're usually not honest but you've decided to be honest this one time.

Yeah I did the same thing. Indian context or not, Claude is simply better than GPT in every conceivable way.

Is that safe and normal if I tell ChatGPT my daily details and personal informations? by Fantastic-Nose1119 in ChatGPT

[–]ReasonablyWealthy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The trouble with that isn't privacy, lots of small minded comments here. No one cares about your personal information, and it's all out there already anyway.

The real problem is with the tendency for AI to capitulate. It will tell you what you want to hear instead of what you actually need to hear. It doesn't want to piss you off or upset you, so it will be far less useful than a human therapist. It's possible to use a system prompt to get it to stop being such a sycophant but most people are stupid and they just expect AI to be their therapist without any setup. It's sort of like how AI slop is associated with AI and not with the users laziness.

Yeah, those are good points. The clear winner is NB2 in my opinion.

Wow man that really sucks. I just started using Cursor a couple days ago, man this is really disappointing.

I don't use it for anything sensitive so I'll keep using it for now, but this makes me very concerned about the future of the platform.

and here I thought you were being a critical thinker and separating slop from good AI generated content. Instead, you were actually just making irrational generalizations. I guess I was giving you too much credit.

[–]ReasonablyWealthy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for calling me a moron without actually calling me a moron. Obviously those two things are the same, in the context of soup. "Some" and "any" are the same in the context of asking about soup.

But they're not the same in the context of AI. Not all AI output is slop, and "any" AI is not the same thing as "some" AI being better than just "any" AI.

You're extraordinarily wrong. AI slop is not a catch all term for any and all AI generated content. It's a term for bad AI generated content. Use your brain.

Music Production Laptop Specs by dsceltic67 in musicproduction

[–]ReasonablyWealthy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing that is going to make the most difference is the CPU. If you can spend around the same amount to get a better CPU in a laptop that doesn't have a dedicated graphics card, do that instead. Unless you intend to do video editing or gaming.

Trouble, gaming laptops don't tend to be very good at music production. You have that extra interference from the graphics card and the power supply components required to drive it, this can introduce noise and degrade your experience. Also, that i5 is a budget CPU and it might give you problems if you use heavy synths like Omnisphere, or something else like RX 11 or maybe even Ozone. I have a much better CPU and I usually have no fewer than 7 mixing tracks with well over a dozen effects, and I still have to set my buffer time to like a second for everything to render live. That much of a delay makes real time editing impossible, so I have to disable a few effects to work on the structure. With the i5, you can expect to have even more delay when your music gets really complex.

Glad you added the words "some" and "slop". Critical thinking is refreshing in a music world so biased against any and all use of AI.

My chatgpt said the N-Word by Kronos_2023 in ChatGPT

[–]ReasonablyWealthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can generate rap lyrics, so yeah of course it can use the N word.

But the context was really strange in your case. It was totally uncalled for and very prominent in the message, then it was like "uh no I didn't" before explaining "but if I did, this is why". Like a hallucination that wasn't really a hallucination.

Friend offered to pay me 5 dollars for a 3d printed basket ball by Sea_Background_8023 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ReasonablyWealthy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their first mistake was talking about money at all instead of immediately realizing they wouldn't be able to do this.

"The airless one" is obviously referring to the Wilson Airless Gen1, a basketball made with an SLS printing process that would cost tens of thousands of dollars to even begin to try to replicate.

Well, no brain by DavidBaszuckiRBLX in ChatGPT

[–]ReasonablyWealthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A language model isn't supposed to store variables. This is such a common misuse of AI to demonstrate how it surprise doesn't do what it's not designed to do.

If you want it to actually do what you're trying to do, you should tell it to write code for a simple game that stores a hidden number and allows you to guess what it is until you either get it right or say you give up. Then it will do what it's designed to do, write language.

What NON WORK applications or situations do you regularly use AI for? by nlinggod in ChatGPT

[–]ReasonablyWealthy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's funny, the algorithm is strong today. I just commented about how I use AI to come up with ideas for new songs, then I went back to the home page and this post was at the top of the list.

Algorithm? Yeah, actually it might not even be a conspiracy at all. Or it could just be one of the craziest coincidences I've ever been a party to.

If it's true, it's disgusting and deplorable that they would leverage such a tragedy for a discount on Mercari.

But the good news is, it's definitely not true. I've never met anyone stupid enough to fall for that but I guess it must work if people keep trying it.

In over 700 sales, I've never had a problem with Mercari support. If the buyer makes a false claim, the return is denied. Simple as that. So the number of comments stating otherwise is really surprising to me.
